Chapter 54

Taehyung smelled the alcohol on Jungkook along with the faint scent of tobacco.

Suddenly, he noticed that the group of men behind Ye-Jun had pulled out their phones and were aiming their cameras at him.

They must have been in on it with Ye-Jun.

Tae gave Jungkook a hard shove, but because he was worried about him falling, he reached out and grabbed his arm.

Seeing this, the driver hurried over to help, and the two placed Jungkook in the backseat of the car.

Once Taehyung strapped Jungkook in, the driver passed him a bottle of water.

He had worked up a sweat, so he accepted the bottle and took a big gulp of water from it.

“That was for Mr. Jeon, Sir,” said the driver.

Tae’s cheeks turned crimson.

He quickly held the bottle out next to Jungkook’s arm and asked, “Do you want some water?”

His eyes were closed and his brows furrowed tightly as if he was in a world of discomfort.

He did not respond to his question at all.

Tae was not sure if he did not hear him, or if he did, but chose not to answer him.

“Maybe you can feed it to him, Sur,” suggested the driver.

Taehyung frowned in frustration.

He placed his hand at the back of Jungkook’s neck in hopes of lifting his head up.

The moment his palm made contact with the skin on his nape, however, Jungkook’s eyes instantly shot open.

Tae quickly yanked his hand back, threw his head back, and took another big gulp of water.

As Jungkook watched his side profile, he recalled the divorce plan he saw on his laptop.

He wondered how he planned to turn his scheme into reality.

The car drove steadily in the night as the atmosphere inside of the vehicle turned stranger and stranger by the minute.

From the corner of his eye, Tae noticed Jungkook’s unwavering gaze fixed on him, and his heart began to race wildly in his chest.

He finished the bottle of water in record-breaking time.

Jungkook snatched the empty bottle out of his hands and tossed it aside, breaking the silence with a bang.

“You want to divorce me because I made you abort that b*st*rd child,” he hissed coldly.

Tae had nowhere to run or hide, so he had no choice but to answer him.

“It’s your right to not want kids, but you can’t forcefully take away my right to be a mother. I want children, and I want to be a mother. Tell me, apart from getting a divorce, how else would I be able to have my own kids?”

This matter was a thorn in their relationship. If it was not resolved, it would continue to stab at them for the rest of their lives.

“Why do you insist on having kids? Do you like them that much?!” Jungkook scoffed as a fiery rage boiled in his eyes.

Tae clenched his teeth as a wave of emotions rose inside of h.

If he were not already pregnant, he could live without children.

However, now that he was pregnant, he had a responsibility to his babies. “Why are you so against having them? You’re not the one giving birth to or raising them! Why can’t you just give them a chance?” Taehyung cried in a voice that was louder than Jungkook’s.

The driver was shocked.

Where did Kim Taehyung get the guts to raise his voice at Jeon Jungkook?

Did he really think that his patience with him was limitless?

Just as the driver thought that Jungkook would raise his hand, a heavy silence fell upon the backseat.

Taehyung calmed down slightly after a little while.

His voice broke through the piercing silence as he said through reddened eyes, “Everyone has something they’d rather not discuss. What’s there to fight about?”.

“Don’t think that you’re the only one for me, Kim Taehyung,” Jungkook said in a voice that was chilling to the bone, his tone heartless and indifferent.

“We’re as different as heaven and hell. I’ve never hoped to stand on equal ground next to you,” Tae responded.

“Who’s heaven and who’s hell?” Jungkook asked. His question left Tae baffled.

What kind of a question was that?

He did not answer him. His head was pounding.

The backseat was drenched in the smell of alcohol. He felt sick to his stomach and rolled down the window.
