Chapter 113
Jungkook was lying through his teeth, but Ye-jun had no reply,of all the years they had known each other, Ye-jun had never once seen Jungkook in a sweater.
Although, perhaps a sweater that Taehyung knitted for him was much more meaningful than one that was bought with money,
“Your mom called me saying your nephew was discharged from the hospital,” Ye-jun said. “She wants you to go home for dinner tonight.”
“She can tell me that herself,” Jungkook said.
“Did she upset you recently? She was pretty cautious when she talked to me earlier. Don’t be mad at your mom, Jungkook. There’s nothing like a mother’s love in this world”
“Please stop talking.”
Ye-jun burst into laughter.
“Do you want to go back to the old mansion for dinner with Tae?”
Jungkook thought for a moment, then said, “Didn’t you say he’s been busy knitting?”
“That’s true! There’s only a week left. I wonder how he’s doing.”
When Jungkook arrived at the old mansion that night, Jenna was beside herself with joy.
Everyone else, on the other hand, had different levels of caution on their faces.
Jungkook's cold gaze fell on Sana.
“She’s Taehyung sister, Kim Sana…” Jenna explained when she saw her son staring at their guest. “I didn’t like her at first, but she’s been taking care of Nic after he got hurt…”
Sana grew apprehensive under Jungkook's unwavering gaze.
She mustered up the courage to greet him and said, “Nice to meet you, Sir. I’m Tae's sister. I thought that you’d be coming with him tonight!”
Jungkook ignored her and shifted his gaze to Nic's haggard and sluggish face.
The time he had spent at the hospital was the most agonizing period of his life.
“I broke up with Tae half a year ago, Uncle Jungkook. He hated me after he found out that I was seeing Sana. There was no way that I would be able to devise a plot to keep him by your side,” explained Nic desperately.
“I could tell,” Jungkook said, then added after a brief pause, “I’m afraid you don’t have the ability to rule Kim Taehyung.”
Tae's unique personality prevented anyone from controlling him.
“Insult me however you want. As long as you’re happy,” Nic said humbly.
“I’d be happy if you shut your mouth,” Jungkook said bluntly.
Nic remained silent.
His finger reattachment surgery went well, but he was not fully recovered yet and had to depend on Sana to feed him.
The tension remained strained throughout the night’s dinner.
Noticing the rigid silence, Sana decided to lighten the atmosphere. By throwing some insults to Tae.
“We had a credible fortune teller predict Taehyung's future for us before,” she said. “They told us that Taehyung would bring bad luck to his husband… I bet your recent accident was because of him.
As Jungkook raised his eyes to look at her, his gaze chilled her to the bone.
“I’m a pretty good fortune teller myself. I’ll predict your future right now… You won’t live long.”
Sana's fork fell from her hands and clattered to the floor.
Sensing her son’s rage, Jenna called for the bodyguard and said, “Throw her out!”
Nic was upset that Sana was being kicked out.
“Grandma—”
“Shut up! Feed yourself or don’t eat at all! I never liked that girl! She’ll be nothing but trouble for you!”
Nic did not say another word and proceeded to try his best to pick up his fork with his injured hand.
Jungkook pulled out a check from his pocket, slid it across the table to his brother, and said, “This is for taking care of Mother, Junhoon.Take it.”
Jenna lived with Junghoon, so Jungkook would regularly give his brother some money to cover expenses.
Junghoon was hesitant.
He wanted to accept the money, but he could not help but feel humiliated. It was a child’s duty to take care of their mother, after all.
