Ever loved something so much you had to set it free? Much like a butterfly, its life grows from a caterpillar to a cocoon as its sheds its own skin, spreads its wings and flies away. And never once looking in the same direction once it does. Who could ever love something so deeply you had to let it go, and hope it never looks back at you? I did once. I had a love for someone who I never wanted to see fly away. She was my butterfly. I dreamingly got so wrapped up in watching her life grow, I never noticed her true absence in mine. The butterfly would land on its leg and pause for a moment, freezing time all around. Making it seem like everything was normal, like they use to be. When it was just us. Then like the instinctual creature, it flutters its wings and takes flight. To the next destination. For whatever peace of normalcy it heart yearned for. Even if that peace existed within a family it stood to turn its back to. Ever seen a butterfly in a pack? They tend to stand alone. For the weight of the world was too much for this particular butterfly. It flew away. Never realizing the life it left behind...
