Third Person, Following Elora
"You know, I reckon you're right Sophie," Shaylie whispered quietly as she stared in wonder at the white winged unicorn. She squinted at the over-sized embodiment of a toy. "She does talk."
Sophie looked at her questioningly, "What do you mean?"
She pointed at the sparkly alicorn with a slightly accusatory finger, "She's talking to me. And boy, does she not like the Hekses. Good choice by the way, you sparkly winged unicorn." She nodded approvingly towards Silveny.
"Wait, what?" Fitz interrupted. "Sophie said that Silveny communicates with mostly images or in just a couple of words that Sophie translates."
Shaylie shrugged, "I mean, for Sophie maybe. But Silveny does talk in full sentences. At least, that's what I'm hearing." She tapped her temple, "If you don't believe me, I could just repeat to you what she's saying. But none of you other than Sophie are polyglots, and well, sorry Sophie, but I don't know if you'd understand it either."
"Eh, I call it a bluff! Foster's the almighty powerful, there's no way she wouldn't understand Silveny," Keefe declared proudly, puffing his chest as he wrapped his arm around Sophie. "I say you transmit it to all of us if you really think the glittery flying horse is talking to you."
Shaylie rolled her eyes, "Fine, you asked." Concentrating, she gathered the thought Silveny had transmitted to her and wrapped it in a ball of energy before broadcasting it outwards to her friends.
Keefe blinked in surprise, his smirk melting off his face, "Wow, okay, you were not kidding. She does talk, just not in a language any of us know." He turned to look over at Sophie who's eyebrows were puckered together in concentration. "You have any luck over there with translating it, Foster?"
Sophie's frown deepened before she let out a sigh and shook her head. "No, I can hear the words, but they won't translate. I can pick out bits and pieces but not the full thing. And, Silveny only sends me words at a time, I wonder why she sent Shaylie a full sentence."
Shaylie crossed her arms triumphantly, "Hah! I told you that the winged unicorn was talking to me! Hmph, try underestimating me again Keefe and see what happens."
"I am usually all for the Keefe bashing," Biana started, giving the blonde boy a look of warning. "But I think you actually better be careful this time, Keefe. Shaylie looks ready to seriously beat you up."
Fitz and Sophie both nodded in agreement, both warily looking at Shaylie with a small smile.
Shaylie scoffed, she was not that violent...was she?
A thought, that was definitely not hers, pierced through her mind. She whipped around to look at the alicorn enclosure where Silveny was staring at her intently.
"Oh—I almost forgot to..." Biana's voice faded away as Shaylie tentatively walked over closer to the alicorn enclosure.
"Hi, girl," she whispered quietly from a foot away from the enclosure's wall.
Silveny stared back at her with wide gold-flecked brown eyes, a colour very similar to Sophie's she noted.
Are you a friend?
Her lips stretched into a smile, I can be if you want me to, she replied to the alicorn in the same ancient language.
Though it was hard to tell, she was pretty sure that the giant flying horse had just smiled.
...
"Excuse me?"
Tiergan shot her a sharp look. Shaylie quickly shut her mouth close, picking her jaw off the floor.
