Yunlan stayed with Lin Jing and watched him as he readied the system to shut down. There were some technical issues that he hadn't told Yunlan at present which could wait until later. The first one was that he had moved Kunlun's programme to the locked security room where they were still holding Mr Black. Therefore he would reboot from this area which would be safe and protected by a new security system which Jing had been working on.
"I've put a tracer in the virus boss, we can see where it travels and how many it will affect. Eventually it will reach the controller as well, so even if he didn't come here, we could go to him."
Jing explained as he glanced over and saw Yunlan move towards the stairs and sit at the bottom, a short distance away from him. All his anger had suddenly disappeared as his eyes were continually full of tears, and Jing kept talking because he knew that Yunlan couldn't.
"Kunlun will take over and reboot the system from the safety of the security room where the wave won't affect him. To the people in the city it will only be minutes, so the guards will need to be lucky and fast."
Guo Ying was listening from the top of the stairs where Yunlan had left the door open and he sent the same message to the guards who were already searching for anyone in the police offices who looked as if they weren't breathing, probably a background worker who wouldn't be noticed, but would have access to every part of the building.
The city shut down and the verbal frustration resounded in every office, school, college, shop, and traffic control area. Only the androids were quiet and motionless, while the guards searched for the silent ones, sitting, standing, staring, posing, not moving and they found one. Guard Xin held it by the arm and appeared in the basement beside Jing who had his syringe ready with nanites to inject the android and it was returned to the same position before Kunlun would reboot the system. The guards stayed in place for five minutes, checking for the power to resume and when the lights came on and the screens lit up, it was time for them to leave.
"Now we just wait and watch. Kunlun will be tracking the progress of the virus and it will only affect the androids, nothing else." Jing said as he looked over towards Yunlan who hadn't moved, and he risked speaking his mind.
"You had to do it, he would have bled to death if you didn't."
Yunlan looked over as he spoke to Lin Jing but he was not angry, he was feeling guilty for the pain he had inflicted on Wei.
"Thank you for your work today Jing, now if you could find a programme to fix people ... "
Yunlan stood up and slowly climbed the stairs with his head down, returning to the medical room to sit beside Wei before he would awaken. He couldn't speak to Chu or Ying who had both helped to cause this painful injury and he passed them without a glance, but stopped dead when Ava stood in front of him and blocked his way with a face like fury, and waited for her to vent her anger towards him. Unexpectedly, she threw her arms around him and held him, rocking him until he released his pent up emotion and cried bitterly into her shoulder while she rubbed his back.
