Yunlan returned with some wood for the fire and found Wei talking to track who was kneeling in front of the bed, and he thought to himself, only you my love could find a friend in circumstances like these and he smiled as he shook his head.
"We meet again tracker," Yunlan stated as he dropped the wood close to the fire and when he turned around, Track was kowtowing and refusing to rise, ashamed of himself for trying to harm Him, the god of the mountain. Yunlan shrugged his shoulders and looked around in exasperation, he had been raised to godhood status.
"Tracker, to atone for your grievous acts, you must perform a small favour for us," Yunlan tried to ask as godlike as he could.
"Tell me, master of the mountains." he said seriously while Wei hid his face under the duvet to hide his laughter, after watching how the situation was affecting Yunlan.
"Very well, firstly. Find a royal guard and tell him that we are here. Secondly, Lord Black Robe will tell you the other thing."
Wei instantly pulled the duvet down from his face in shock and stared at Yunlan while a silent series of animated conversation passed between them, leaving Wei with the task of recruiting the tracker to work for them in this world. Track eventually raised his head from the ground, accepting that this would be true atonement and humbly agreed, before he disappeared to find a royal guard.
Shen Wei watched as Yunlan slowly walked towards him with a serious expression and sat on the side of the bed.
"Zhu Jiu is dead, why would the guards teleport us to the cave for safety, my love?" he asked as he came closer to Wei's face, watching him as he tried to work it out.
"They would have been protecting us from a threat that neither you nor I could have dealt with in my current condition. I could have slowed your reflexes because you would have tried to protect me and fight at the same time," Wei realised with a look of sadness.
"You need time to heal Xiao Wei. Your guards knew this and moving us was a way of giving them more strength by not having to worry about our safety. We have to believe that they will be able to fight back until we can help." Yunlan said as he cupped the side of Wei's face with his hand while he leaned closer and kissed him gently.
Wei knew he was right but it didn't stop him from seeing the futility of their situation, even if by some method they were able to return, he couldn't help the guards and would only cause then more worry by his presence, which would weaken them. Only time and the correct treatment would help him to recover, then he would be able to go home Wei thought, as he slowly closed his eyes.
The air in the cave changed as a small breeze blew through Yunlan's hair and he turned to face the direction it came from, watching as the lead royal guard appeared with the tracker and both sank to their knees in front of him.
