Palace of Jaipur

As we strolled through the opulent palace, my brother Ekansh's voice echoed through the grand halls.

"Bhai, you know this place is haunted." I raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "How?" I asked, my tone laced with amusement.

Ekansh's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I have seen in movies that a witch lives here." I chuckled, shaking my head in disbelief.

I had just arrived from London, mere hours ago, to attend my younger sister Kiara's engagement ceremony. She was the apple of our family's eye, the only daughter, and two years my junior. Our mother's joy knew no bounds, and I couldn't bear the thought of disappointing her by being late. So, I had adjusted my hectic schedule to arrive a day early, ensuring I could be by Kiara's side as she prepared to take this significant step.

Our family members' laughter and chatter drifted in from the backyard, a stark contrast to the spooky atmosphere Ekansh was trying to create.

"Bhai, you won the best businessman leader award, so how does it feel?" Ekansh asked, his eyes shining with admiration. I smiled humbly, my lips curving upward.

"What should I think about this? Whether we get the award or not, we should keep on doing our work...or I know that we are doing a good job, and this award is like an appreciation for us."

Ekansh nodded in agreement, his eyes gleaming with respect. "You're great, bhai. That's why I always call you my idol." I smiled, feeling a sense of pride and gratitude.

But our conversation was abruptly interrupted by the sudden blackout. "How did the lights go off suddenly?" Ekansh muttered, his voice laced with concern. Our mom's voice rang out from outside, "Are koi main switch pe jaake dekho ye light kese chali gyi?"

"(Go check the main switch and see why the lights went out!)

Ekansh and I exchanged a glance, and I nodded. "You look there, I'm looking here." I walked further into the darkness, my phone's torch casting eerie shadows on the walls.

As I strode through the darkness, my long strides devouring the distance, my quest for the main switch was abruptly halted by a tantalizing sound - the soft tinkle of bangles. My heart skipped a beat, and my pulse raced with an inexplicable excitement. I froze, my gaze drawn to the half-open door, where a faint light flickered like a siren's call.

Curiosity got the better of me, and I felt an overwhelming urge to uncover the identity of the bangle-adorned enigma. I pocketed my phone and stepped into the dimly lit room, my eyes adjusting to the darkness. The sound of bangles grew louder, and my heart drummed in tandem, as if beckoned by an unseen force.

As I entered, my eyes locked onto a vision that left me spellbound. A girl, poised on the third step of the wooden stairs, her legs gracefully positioned on the narrow tread. Her hands were raised, skillfully replacing the flickering bulb. The soft clinking of her bangles seemed to hypnotize me, drawing me deeper into the mystery.

As I drew closer, my feet seemingly moving of their own accord, I found myself entranced by the cascade of silky hair down her back. The white blouse and maroon skirt hugged her curves in a way that left me breathless. The anklets adorning her feet seemed to shimmer in the dim light, and the soft tinkling of her bangles created a melody that soothed my soul.

I was powerless against the pull of her presence, my feet moving slowly, as if drawn by an invisible thread. Before I knew it, I was standing directly behind her, my eyes fixed on the gentle rise and fall of her chest. Her fragrance, a captivating blend of rose, strawberry, and oasis, enveloped me, leaving me lightheaded.

My eyes drifted shut, and I was lost in the sweetness of her scent. But the sudden cry of "Ouch!" jolted me back to reality. I opened my eyes to see her teetering on the stairs, her balance faltering. Without thinking, I reached out to steady her, but it was too late. She tumbled forward, and I stumbled backward, our bodies colliding as we crashed to the floor.

Dazed, I found myself pinned beneath her, her face mere inches from mine.
As I gazed down at her, her eyes were shut tight, fear etched on her face. The delicate fabric of her dupatta veiled her features, I couldn't see her face, but I could sense her warmth, her breath mingling with mine. Our bodies were entwined, her hands grasping my chest with a desperate intensity. Time suspended as we hung there, suspended in a dance of fate.

Then, like a sunrise breaking over the horizon, her eyes fluttered open. Our gazes collided, and I was ensnared by the depths of her golden hazel eyes. They sparkled like a treasure trove of secrets, drawing me in with an otherworldly allure. I was lost, drowning in their radiance, my soul surrendering to the mystery of this enigmatic stranger.

Her hands, still clinging to my chest, seemed to burn with a fire that spread through my very being. I was consumed by the sensation, my heart racing like a wild animal. And in that moment, I knew I was forever lost in the abyss of her eyes.

"Dumbo, where are you? mom is calling you", Someone's voice distracted me from my beautiful world.

She flinched due to this voice and immediately started getting up from me. And I also. Before giving me a last glance she walked out from there immediately, hesitantly. But she left me with her fragrance.

I Turned my heel and looked at the palce where we fallen down. "So you left", I mumbled.

Exactly she left one of her earrings on the ground. I bent down and took it in my hand. Looking at it all around and hoping that I could meet its owner again.
