"Why did you lie and say we're husband and wife?" I asked as soon as I buckled my seatbelt. Yeah, I was going with him - he had offered me a drive.
"I said what seemed right at the time. Do you have a problem with that?" he asked, glancing at me before returning his eyes to the road.
"No...I mean, yes. You could have just said we're siblings," I protested, offering an alternative.
Suddenly, the car came to an abrupt halt, and I jerked forward with force. I didn't want this ride anymore; I just wanted to get out of the car.
He looked at me with a neutral expression, but his eyes...don't even get me started. He seemed angry, but why? I hadn't done anything wrong this time. I hadn't even splashed water on him.
I couldn't make eye contact with him, so I diverted my gaze, putting on an innocent face. "I'm sleepy. Please drive," I said, biting my lower lip.
He started the engine and began driving again. Thank God. I couldn't handle getting tangled up with this volcano. I just needed to stay quiet.
Just then, I spotted something silver in the front car stand. Should I open it? It was sparkling beautifully. But what if he got angry again if I touched his things without permission?
Rudra's phone rang, and he checked it. I was curious to know who was calling him at this late hour. A girlfriend, perhaps? Or a best friend? I was peeking at the screen when he turned his face towards me, and I immediately sat up straight, leaning back and folding my hands in my lap.
"It's my mom calling," he replied, and I made a surprised face. I wasn't thinking about anything, by the way. Really? Yes, I wasn't.
He started talking to his mom, connecting the call via Bluetooth. When my eyes fell on that silver object again, I decided to check it out since he was busy. And when I found out what it was, I was on cloud nine – it was one of my lost earrings!
I thought I must have left it at his office today. But just as I was about to take it, he snatched it away from me. How rude!
"This is my earring. I mean, I must have left it at your office this morning," I said in a normal tone.
He was driving, but his face was a picture of confusion. It took him almost 59 seconds to respond.
"How can I believe it's yours?" he questioned.
"Then is it yours?" I asked, rolling my eyes while maintaining a calm demeanor. I grinned.
"Actually, I only have one pair left, and I lost the other earring a long time ago," I said, feigning sadness.
"I've been searching for the same pair for ages, but I just can't find it anywhere," I added, scratching my nose. I wasn't crying.
"Still, I'm not willing to believe it's yours," he said, shaking his head. I gritted my teeth. What a stubborn guy Krodh Kumar is!
