Song
Nine years.
Nine whole years since she saw those eyes and before she knew it, she was pulled away from him once more. She was so close to having him in her arms once more. She was so close to being back in his life once again, but they were once again pulled apart by a cruel thing called destiny.
Yumi knew inside of her that it was her Blue. The Blue she once did everything with. The very reason why she was still single.
The protagonist in every song, poem, and story she wrote.
Despite being shocked, she had to pull herself. She knew she still had a stage to perform.
Just a little more. A little more and she can be with him.
A little more and she promises to say the thing she should have said years ago.
When Minho went home that evening, his mind was buzzing with thoughts. He wasn't good with remembering his past, but he could never forget her. Now when she made him experience a lot in life. Not when he is willing to drop everything just for a single call from her.
Minho was known to have terrible memory. He tends to forget things about the fast fairly easily than an average person, but he could never forget the face of his greatest.
"Hyung."
Usually, Chan wouldn't be able to hear anyone whenever he was working. He would be too high up in his imagination and thoughts to hear whatever noise there was in the outside world. He would isolate himself completely and it would oftentimes seem that he did not give a single care about the world until he has finished the track he was working on.
However, Chan did not hesitate before turning around and stopping whatever he was doing as he heard Minho's voice. His voice was shaky, exhausted, and unstable. Like he was ahout to cry.
If it were the other members, he wouldn't be too surprised. He would have just hugged them and pulled them into his studio until he managed to calm them down before talking to them. He usually did the first move to the other members.
But this was Minho.
Chan had only seen him cry once and that was during the elimination. Minho was fairly a strong one. He doesn't cry in front of the members and is good at hiding his emotions.
Chan wouldn't think the sight in front of him was real.
Minho was wearing casual shirt and pants. His eyes hidden in a cap. He was breathing pretty heavily.
It was his last Stray Kid standing in front of him looking like a lost child.
"Are you busy? Nevermind, I'll just go back to the dorm."
"No." Chan immediately interrupted. Standing up and pulling Minho inside his studio. "I'm not. What's up?" He tried to ask in a casual tone knowing that if he tried to talk bluntly to Minho, the man would just straight up leave.
"I need your opinion on a song." Minho said in a low voice, almost too low for Chan to hear.
Chan blinked. It wasn't what he was expecting based on the way he called him earlier, but he just nodded.
"The management has been telling me to pass a song for the Skz replay album and I had to make one in a rush. Can you-" He took a deep breath to stable himself. "Can you listen and tell me about it?"
As the song began playing, Chan didn't know when he became emotional. Before he knew it, the song had already ended. "Wow." Chan let out. "That was something. It's really good. Why don't you release it as it is?" He asked.
Minho let out a shaky breath silently. "Okay."
The dancer really should have trusted his only hyung's words but there was still a nagging voice inside his head that kept bothering. Of course, he wasn't as good as 3racha when making songs, that was a given.
However, his other members seemed to have a natural talent in making songs as well. He feels like he is getting left behind. Like he can't catch up to them. All these years, he has been trying to prove like he deserves to debut with them. That he deserves to be called a member of Stray Kids.
Hyunjin have proved himself several times that he has a knack for it. He has helped make several songs and has actively expressed his wants of being more active in the field. Seungmin was a little self-explanatory. His voice was immaculate. He deserves to be called their main vocal. Jeongin and Felix also has their own unique touch when it comes to making songs.
Minho felt lost. Not knowing where to go when he was approached and was told that he only has a few more days left for the deadline of his song. He had no idea what to write. He did not want to approach the others and bother them.
There, after nearly a decade, he decided to read the last letter she wrote to him. He might not have made the melody, tone, and beat but he personally wrote the words of his song. He hoped that by using the words she once wrote, she would be able to recognize the song and recognize him as well.
"What."
Minho froze as he heard Hyunjin's reaction. Of course, he decided to approach another person to receive feedback on his song. He needed and wanted validation that it was good enough for the world to see. For stays to hear.
"Hyung, how did we not know you could belt this high?" Jeongin asked.
Limbo was the highest song he ever sang. Higher than any Stray Kids song and he felt anxious about it.
"Does it really end like that?" The maknae asked, not knowing what to react. "You end your songs like you end your lives." He chuckled, unable to sense the anxiety and nervousness radiating out of Minho as he waited for their reaction.
"How is it?"
Despite the many assurances he received from his members, nothing could prepare him the moment he released the song.
As he slept through the night, he had no idea about his own impact.
Limbo topped the charts without any promotions. He was too engrossed in his own negative thoughts, not even thinking that in the near future, it would be the most popular song in the album.
