Rest

"You're drawing him again, aren't you?"

Yumi jumped in surprise as she heard Somi's voice. She ignored her and focused on the way she held her pencil and sketched on her pad. She paid attention on how much force she was using on the pencil. What stroke, and how dark she wants the stroke to be. Being friends with Somi meant that she mastered the art of trying to focus despite someone distracting the living daylights out of her.

It was another perk of being an artist. She might not be able to take a photo of him, but she can keep a drawing of his features. It was already her second drawing of him. The first one she did at the space and the second one she's drawing at the moment.

There are times she wonders what if they went to the same school. Would she experience the same school romance cliché? She would not deny that a part of her wishes she could. After all, she was just a teen girl who also has romantic fantasies.

"Do you not have plans to tell him?" Jieun asked.

It was a simple and harmless action. Yumi was aware of that. Yet her entire system froze as she registered that question.

"I mean, we're not forcing you to do anything you're not comfortable with. But it has been three years? If I remember correctly." Yejin added.

Yumi just sighed. "I'm not risking it."

The three girls surrounded Yumi once more. "Whatever your decision is, we'll be here, okay?" Somi assured.

Yumi nodded and smiled. She was grateful for these girls she met at a random day and got close at a random chance. They have been her ride or die ever since the day those three extroverts randomly decided to adopt her - an introvert.

"What do you want as your future job?" Yumi asked. They were going to have a thing in class where they introducer their dream jobs, but she has no idea what she wants. When she was a kid, all she wanted was to become an idol, but years have passed, and things have changed since then. She still liked being a dancer, just not sure about being an idol.

"I want to be a photographer." Somi said. "I've always liked taking photos and I would be happy to have it as my job."

"You do take beautiful photos." Jieun said. "They say that doing a job that you like will make you enjoy life in the future." She shrugged.

"So, what do you want?" Somi asked.

Jieun chuckled. "I'm the eldest child in an all-doctor Asian family." It was a joke and yet there was a lingering sadness in the tone she used in speaking.

The three girls shared sympathetic looks. They did not want to fit into the stereotype, but it was inevitable. Traditions were hard to break. They could only hope for the best for their friend.

"I want to be a stylist." Yejin admitted. "My parents might disagree with me but I'll do my best to prove it to them."

They nodded, Yejin was a woman who always worked hard to get what she wanted and will work hard for it.

"What about you, Yumi?" Yejin asked.
