—Flashback— Three Days Ago...
"Are you ready? Remember, you can't pass out."
—End of Flashback—
Jenny managed to remain conscious the entire time, but it was the most painful thing she ever had to go through. The feeling of tiny knives twisting and turning inside her brain lingered for two days, leaving her weak and bedridden. In all her sixteen years in the world, she never once imagined that the things she saw on TV could be real. The world is simple; that was what she believed in, but it is not anymore.
"You're kidding me, right? There's no such thing as vampires!" Jenny exclaimed after hearing the truth from Maya. "You're crazy! You're whole family is crazy!"
In just a blink of an eye, Jenny was pushed into the wall behind the school building. Terrified would be an understatement when she saw Lucas's face, especially his fangs. Like a movie playing fast forward, she remembered what her grandmother used to say. A glass of vervain a day keeps a vampire at bay.
"You know I'm telling the truth, Jenny. Maybe deep, deep down, but you know. This town has had the weirdest cases of death and disappearances, all recorded in the town archives, which only stopped a hundred years ago. It was because of the last coven of witches that guarded and protected the town, you've already had some idea about that, right?"
—End of Flashback—
"It was real. It was all real. All the legends, the myths. I'm not losing my mind."
"You've been busy." A man's deep, sultry voice behind her almost made Jenny jump. "I've been looking for you."
"You can do this."
"I had to leave town for my mom." She explained briefly.
"Well, what do you have for me?" the man behind her asked, playing with her hair. Jenny wanted to push him away, but she felt disgusted, and that would ruin the plan.
"I found something. It's under the bed."
"Go, get it.
Jenny nervously fumbled in the dark, and when she finally found what she was looking for, she pressed the button without hesitation. Smoke quickly engulfed the room. For humans, it was nothing but fragrant smoke, but for the man who scared the living hell out of her, it was poison. One of the first things Maya taught her was to prevent herself from being compelled again and use vervain as a weapon.
"You, bit—" The man quickly fell on his knees, gasping as he breathed in more smoke. The four hissing sounds echoed in the room.
"You okay?" Maya asked, still pointing the tranquilizer gun to the unconscious vampire on the floor.
"Yeah, I'm good. Just get her out of here, please?"
"Gladly."
Erestor came out of hiding and carried the vampire out of the house. Whatever they would do to him was none of Jenny's business. All she cared about at the moment was that her part was finally over.

Arthur called all their vampires two hours ago to accompany him to The Hearth. Lucas chose to stay behind to enjoy his time away from his vampire father and his bootlickers. The sun was about to rise, but his mind still wondered where Josh could be. He had been searching high and low, but his adoptive brother was nowhere to be found. Not even the Jaeger could see the other boys.
While drinking his meal, Lucas watched a falling star pass by and smiled at the memory of his younger brother. During his first few years as a vampire, Lucas dreamed about his brother running down the hill, laughing so hard as their dog chased him almost daily. He was haunted by his beautiful eyes, which seemed to sparkle whenever he smiled. Now, he could barely remember that gorgeous face.
