The garbage collectors roamed around town as scheduled. Four grown men in municipal uniforms ensure the cleanliness of Moontown. It was a regular day for them until they saw something that sent chills down their spine. At first, they all thought it was a mannequin left to be collected as trash, but the youngest approached it and ran away screaming. The remaining stepped forward and immediately regretted their decision.

"Goodness! Is that a-a—"

"Call the sheriff." The eldest instructed his companions in a shaky voice. "Call the sheriff now."

Not five minutes later, three patrol cars arrived. The sun was almost out, and people were starting to wake up to start a new day. Onlookers were terrified of what they found, thinking that another serial killer decided to visit the town. But there was something about the body that bothered them the most.

"Sheriff, I can get an estimate of how long that body had been dead." The coroner told the sheriff.

"Why?" The sheriff asked.

"I think you should see it for yourself."

The sheriff carefully walked towards the body so as not to contaminate the crime scene. Behind the bins of garbage, a dry and grayish body lay still with a wooden stake on its chest. There was no blood or other injuries that could explain the body's state; the sheriff gulped. What is happening in this town? He asked himself.

"Sheriff, another dead body was found near the eastern border. It has... uhm, ahem! It has c-canine for teeth?" One of his officers announced. Those who heard gasped in shock.

"What?"

"Sheriff, we've got another dead body on the southern border. Tied to a stake and branded in the chest with the witch." Another officer announced.

"What the hell is going on?"

Ken left his room, all prepared for another day at school. Their team was set to begin its formal training for the basketball league. After closing his door, Maya exited her room too. They looked at each other and decided not even to greet each other good morning. After their unpleasant conversation last night, he knew that Maya still couldn't accept the truth that Jenny's life had already been forfeited the moment she was compelled.

They both walked towards the stairs and down the living room, where they were surprised to see their cousins and uncles. He immediately realized that something bad had happened as their relatives don't normally make occasional visits without reason. Their father looked stressed, while their mother looked pissed.

"Is everything okay?" He asked casually while picking up two pieces of sliced bread. "We didn't know you guys were coming here."

"Three bodies were in different locations: a witch, a vampire, and a werewolf." Their Uncle Steve replied.

"What? How can we help?" He quickly asked.

"Go to school, check on your classmates and teachers, and let us know if you notice anything out of the ordinary."

"Okay. Let's go, Maya."

One of the downsides of being in a small town was how fast stories spread. No matter how hard the authorities tried, the whole town learned about weird bodies before noon. All the students in Moontwon talked about it in person and on social media. Onlookers posted pictures and videos online, and in just two hours, a hundred thousand people learned about the new mystery in town. Mystery enthusiasts, conspiracy theorists, and Arcadian mythology buffs had something to say.
