Casper's POV

Something was off. When I entered the main building, nobody pounced on me like I had expected them to and I had this uneasy feeling growing inside. I seemed to be a hot topic among the Blood and Moon wolves though because everywhere I went, I could hear whispering about how I was Damon's bitch. As if. I would never hand myself over to an asshole like him. I'd rather eat my own two feet than deal with him ever again.

Enzo and I had spent our few days off resting and talking in our room. He told me that Leo was personally going to be protecting me and he had warned the entire Moon pack to stay alert of a certain Demon. I felt useless. I wasn't even related to this pack and I was already a burden to them. I just had to make sure that none of them got hurt again because of me.

Classes were fine since no wolves bothered me. I now had a personal "bodyguard" and it was bothersome. Jaxon Stirling was one huge alpha. If I walked into him with my eyes closed, I would easily mistake him for a solid brick wall. He was Leo's closest friend and right-hand wolf so I knew I could trust him. He had been asked to look after me (more like babysit) and he agreed but he wasn't very talkative. He had sat next to me in class but his head was in his arms on the desk and he had dozed off. He followed me everywhere I went and it was suffocating. Doesn't he have anything better to do?

As soon as we had gotten back to the Sun Residence, Jaxon left. He definitely didn't like me. I didn't really mind though since I wasn't very fond of him either. Leo, Enzo and Nikolas were chatting with a few other wolves in the lounge and I plopped down on the sofa to join them.

"Hey, you feeling okay today?" Nikolas asked. My ass had stopped hurting a couple days ago and my back pain was nearly gone. I couldn't understand how people could enjoy sex when cramps existed and it made my face flush just thinking about it.

"Yeah I'm fine now, thanks," I answered truthfully.

"We'll keep that bloody Demon away from you, so you have nothing to worry about." Nikolas offered me a warm smile and I felt reassured. "We're going to have a ping pong match with everyone later if you want-"

He froze. He and Enzo suddenly tensed. I was confused until I realised why. I can smell them. The smell of Blood wolves infiltrated my nose.

"Leo, they're behind the front door," Enzo said in a calm hushed voice. "Hold on. I also smell Moon wolves. There's a LOT of them, Leo."

Leo's expression visibly shifted. He looked pissed.

"I need you guys to alert the others and go find Jax. Now," he demanded in an assertive tone and the other wolves who were with us nodded and headed for the stairs.

"Nik, go get Luis." Nikolas already knew what to do and he ran for the elevator.

"Enzo, take Casper to the safe room in the basement. I'll send Jax down there so wait with him until he comes down."

"What? No! I'll stay. Why do I-" I started before I was cut off by a hurried Leo.

"Because they're after you. This is Damon's doing. If they get their claws on you, you're done for. So listen to me and GO," Leo ordered. I felt small. I didn't want to disobey him but I also didn't want to sit back and do nothing.

Before I could say another word, I was being dragged by Enzo towards the basement. There was a bookcase in the far corner but when he pressed a hidden button, it rotated into the wall. Behind it was a door and it was opened by his key card. It was dark as we hurried down the stairs but a dim motion-sensor light came on and I could see a metal door at the bottom. Again, his key card was used to open it. He slammed the door behind us and I could hear his frantic panting.
