Enzo's POV
As soon as the bell rang, I bolted from my seat. When I got back last night, I found Leo waiting for me in the lounge. He stayed up because he was worried about me but he was even more panicked when he smelt Ezra's mark. I convinced him not to fuss over it and to just tell the others I got back, without mentioning the mark, mostly because I didn't want Roman finding out through anyone else but also because I was ashamed. It was inevitable that everyone was going to find out as soon as I left my room but I didn't want to face even my closest friends whilst I stank of the Moon Pack leader. The fact that Roman had dumped me made the situation more shameful.
"En! Wait! Stop running!" I could hear Nikolas calling me from behind but I didn't want to see him. I flew down the stairs and ran to leave the main building but someone grabbed my wrist, pulling me back.
"Leo was clearly lying when he said you were okay. Obviously not when you reek of a certain Moon mutt." Luis looked me dead in the eye and didn't let go. "Enzo, what happened? Are you hurt?"
"N-no. I'm fine."
"Then why are you running?"
I swallowed. Tears stung my eyes.
"Roman broke up with me because I smell like Ezra." I started sobbing. He didn't look in my direction once in class and it made my heart ache.
"Oh Enzo." Luis pulled me in for a hug. I appreciated the warmth and stood there crying onto his shoulder. "You did nothing wrong, En. Ezra's the one to blame. And if Roman refuses to understand that then he's not the one for you."
Luis wasn't fond of Roman. In fact, almost no one was. Everyone in our pack all went to Sun High apart from Roman until the middle of his final year, because despite his family moving to the Sun Pack, he refused to leave Moon High. When he transferred, everyone had been welcoming, especially Leo and Luis, but he was spiteful and chose to be alone. That was until he began tolerating my presence and we would hang out together every day. I miss him.
"There you are!" Nikolas jumped on me and he nearly made me fall back. "Leo said you were fine but I didn't see you this morning and then you were late and you smell like Ezra and now you're crying. Gosh," he rambled on.
"I told Leo not to tell anyone that I've been marked."
"You shouldn't have. It's not your fault. We were so worried about you, En."
"And Roman b-broke up with me."
"WHAT?"
"You can't get mad at him when I'm the one who smells like another alpha."
"It's not like you cheated on him. That Roman, I swear to fucking-"
'It's fine! Don't worry about it. I'll talk to him once Ezra's mark wears off. We have other things to focus on right now."
The Hunt was coming up. Us Sun wolves were dreading it. When I was at home, I would lock myself in the basement for 48 hours to protect myself and make sure I didn't hurt others. Being stuck there and holding back my wolf made those two days every year physically painful. The Blood Moon hardly affects mature werewolves since they can control their urges so I'm looking forward to the day I turn 20.
Holloway will be chaos. I just know it. We won't have anything to hold our wolves back and we'd have to stay alert so that we ourselves don't get attacked. It was a lose-lose situation and I just know it's going to suck. The other two packs are biologically stronger than us so they wouldn't worry about hiding, just attacking.
We were all given a notice to go to the medical office in a couple days to get injected with something that will reverse the effects of the inhibitor which means we'll all be able to shift soon. My wolf is pretty strong but I don't like the idea of fighting in that form.
It's only two days. This will all be over soon enough.
Caper's POV
I was called into the medical office. I sat in the waiting area and my leg was shaking. I didn't like it here and the atmosphere was cold.
"Mr Casper Reid?"
I looked up expecting Doctor Hazel but it wasn't him.
"Yes?"
"I'm Doctor Jones and I'm here to administer a special dose of the inhibitor reverser for the upcoming Hunt. Please come in."
His office was clean but had that hospital smell that made me feel uncomfortable.
"So I understand that the typical dose of the inhibitor didn't work for you?"
"Um, I mean I shifted in the dining hall, so I guess not."
"Hmm."
He flipped through a bunch of files.
"Do you know what pack you belong to? Several witnesses came forward and said that your wolf is grey."
"I don't know. I never knew my parents."
"Okay. Wait here."
He left and came back with Doctor Hazel a few minutes later.
"Hello, Casper."
"Hi." I wasn't too pleased to see him.
"We are going to do a quick blood test before administering a special dose of the reverser."
How lovely.
He sat down beside me and sanitised my left arm.
"Flex your arm. This is going to sting a little."
I looked away as he pushed the needle into the inner side of my elbow. I winced. He filled up four different tubes with my blood.
"Okay, great."
Doctor Hazel left and Doctor Jones sanitised the upper part of my arm.
"We had to bring you in earlier than everyone else since we needed to give you a unique dose."
The injection was quick but already my arm was aching. I stood as soon as he put the plaster on.
"Casper."
"Yes?" I said impatiently. I hated being there and I wanted to leave.
"It's not my place to say anything but stay away from Damon during those two days. It'll be dangerous for you."
"Sorry, what?"
"Don't underestimate a Blood wolf's biology. They're royal blood and Damon's a leader. Be careful." His serious tone was scaring me.
"Thank you."
There were 3 days left until the Hunt. My plan was to run as far into the woods as possible when it starts and stay there until it's over. I'll shift into my wolf form and try to sniff out others coming my way so that I can avoid them. Especially that Demon.
I'll be okay.
