Casper's POV
I carefully observed my roommate who had taken off his Holloway uniform shirt and plopped down on his bed. Enzo had fluffy black hair and big hazel eyes. I knew already that he was an omega but he didn't look like a typical one, similar to me. He seemed to be the same height as me and didn't seem frail or weak, especially not with those abs.
"I'm Casper Reid. Are you Korean?" What a stupid first question to ask.
"Uhh, yeah, you?"
"Um, I'm white." I'm honestly not sure where I'm from. No surprise there since I don't even know my parents' names.
He squinted at me for a second before bursting out laughing and throwing a stuffed frog toy at me. "HAHAHA! You're funny! I'm so glad to finally have a roommate. I've been so lonely for two months now and it was boring not having anyone to talk to at night. Now I have a friend!" He was already starting to agitate me. I was NOT in the mood to be dealing with this ball of energy and he was making my headache thrash against my brain.
"Listen Enzo, En, whatever your name is. I was fucking tranquilised and thrown into this shit hole. I'm not here to make "friends", okay? I'll stay out of your way, so stay out of mine." With that, I started unpacking my things. I could see Enzo's face visibly drop but I'd rather be honest and not get too close to anyone here. Since trying to escape was futile, I would just keep to myself and get through this next year.
"O-oh wow. Okay." He stood and walked into the bathroom, locking the door behind him. I heard the shower being turned on.
I changed into my sleep clothes and laid down, staring at a black speckle on the ceiling. I still didn't know where anything was or what my class timetable looked like. Damn it. I should've been nicer to Enzo to get some information out of him before snapping at him so harshly. He walked out ten minutes later with nothing but a pair of boxers on. I wasn't sure if he was showing off or if he was just extremely confident. His body did not match his perky personality.
The silence made the air feel heavy. "Um, sorry for snapping at you," I spoke up. "I've had a really long and crappy day and I'm exhausted."
"That's okay! I completely get it! You can keep Froggy by the way. Take care of him." He beamed at me. He must be the most innocent werewolf out there.
"Oh, uh, thanks." I put the stuffed frog next to my pillow.
"Can you tell me some stuff about this school? Just so I'm not completely out of the loop. Leo mentioned something about how newbie omegas shouldn't wander around."
"Oh yeah of course. Leo's definitely right. You'd be so screwed if you got lost or wandered into the wrong building." He suddenly sounded serious. "There are 6 buildings. 3 residence halls, 1 main building where lessons are held, 1 dining hall and 1 medical building," he told me whilst putting on a pair of joggers and a sweater.
"You should already know that all three packs are here at Holloway. I've been told you're packless so I'll explain what each pack is like." I started feeling grateful that Enzo was willing to be this helpful.
"So as you know, we're in the Sun Residence Hall. There's a lot of us so we have the biggest building and wolves here are quite friendly and we care about one another. We have 'gatherings' once in a while in the lounge and play games. You're lucky to be with us," he proudly said.
"The Moon Pack hates us. History and all that," he continued and I nodded to show that I knew what he was talking about. "They'll start fights with us in the dining hall for no reason, even though Leo and the rest of us like our peace and quiet. They're really aggressive and will kill without batting an eye and they especially treat Sun omegas like crap. We won't just sit back and take shit from them though - we're wolves after all. Ezra Blackwell is their leader and you better not get on his bad side. He's terrifying, to say the least." He visibly shivered.
"And then there's the Blood Pack," he spoke quietly. "They have a strong relationship with the Moon Pack. They won't necessarily get involved in the petty arguments the Moon Pack starts but will defend them in serious situations and the same thing other way around. If you provoke Blood wolves even a tiny bit, they'll probably smash your head in. I'm not even joking, I've seen it happen before. Their leader is the infamous Damon Crow. They call him Demon. He's the first child of the Alpha King and the heir to the throne. He got sent here when he was 16 because the high school he was at couldn't contain his violent and destructive outbursts. He's 19 now but hasn't gotten much better, and it's pretty obvious since he can't seem to hold back his need to kill. He's definitely the strongest and there's just no stopping him."
My throat felt dry and I swallowed a few times. I knew it. I knew the rumours weren't just rumours.
"Casper."
I looked up.
"I'm going to tell you something right now and I'm not going to tell you twice."
I stared blankly at him not knowing what to expect.
"Do whatever you want at Holloway. But at no cost will you involve yourself with Damon Crow. I know you said you don't want to be friends with me but I don't want to see my roommate, um, well, get hurt," he said awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck.
"This is my one and only warning. If you want to get through the next year in one piece, you WILL avoid him. If you ever happen to bump into him, you will do as he says without question and then run. Do NOT provoke him."
What the fuck.
"Just keep in mind that they call him Demon. They don't call him that for no reason."
