Casper's POV
Jaxon was getting closer and closer. There was no way I was going to be able to outrun him, let alone fight him. I looked over my shoulder and I could see him in his wolf form. I forced my muscles to work harder but I could hear him closing in on me.
He pounced on me and I fell hard. He pinned me against the ground and I could see his sharp canines. It was terrifying having a wolf on top of me and I yelled out in a desperate attempt to not be murdered.
"Whatever I did to you, I'm sorry! Don't kill me! I promise you'll never have to see me again! What would Leo say if he found out yo-"
"They're coming after you. You need to run, Casper, and keep running."
He let go of me.
"W-what?"
"Blood wolves. They found us first and they wanted to know where you were. I got away to find you before they could."
Now that we were both still, I could see a bloody gash on his side. He was also twitching weirdly and I stood to keep my distance from him.
"You're bleeding! Why are you worrying about me when you're in such a state?!"
"Because you're out here alone." He turned to go back. His twitching was getting more obvious. "I'm trying really hard not to attack you right now. I came here to warn you because I want you to live. Run, Casper."
He began running before I could thank him. I started running too. I had no sense of where I was anymore so I ran in the direction that was the darkest. I hate this. It felt like I was playing a game of cat and mouse, except that the mouse had been thrown into the cat's playpen, making it easier for him to be caught.
I didn't stop running for a solid hour and only stopped when I needed water. I knew this because of my glow-in-the-dark wristwatch. I got it for my 16th birthday and it was the only present I had ever received from the orphanage. At the time, I was annoyed that they hadn't given me something I wanted but now I was getting good use out of it.
I hadn't bumped into anyone which felt suspicious more than relieving. I was anxious that I was going to get ambushed. It was too quiet for a place that was meant to be a bloodbath.
I shifted back into my human form. I was getting quicker at it and it didn't hurt as much as the first couple times. I took off my bag and grabbed a sandwich. I was not a cardio person and running had sucked the fuel out of me. I rested against a tree while I ate and tried to come up with a plan. I wouldn't be able to run for the entirety of the Hunt but I couldn't just sit on my ass and expect nothing to happen to me.
Enzo's POV
I've been separated from the others. I was with Nikolas and Luis until a group of Moon wolves ambushed us. Three of them. It was terrifying but something was off. They were only targeting me and tried to get me away from others. They chased me into the forest and I wasn't sure where I was anymore. I didn't look back and I kept running.
I slowed down when I could no longer breathe, and I thought I was screwed but there was nobody chasing after me anymore. My legs gave in and I slumped against a tree. I tried to get my breathing in check but my nerves made me shaky.
A twig snapped. I held my breath and stood up as quietly as I could. I smelt someone familiar. Very familiar.
"Roman?" I called out.
A few seconds later, Roman stepped out from the shadows. He looked as handsome as ever and I knew I wasn't over him yet. I felt anxious. We ended our relationship badly and I had no clue what his intentions were. I had to stay alert.
