"You should read this" Steven said holding the letter out for Laurel, she waved him off

"Later. We should go" she said before gasping, "Found them. Come on"

Delilah sat between Belly and Melly as they were at Steven's graduation, Melly and Delilah were holding hands, Delilah's head on Melly's shoulder

"They said that everything happens for a reason. Now, who "they" are, exactly, is unclear. Maybe a theological coined it. Or, i dont know, whoever configured the simulation we're clearly living in. Maybe it was Rihanna. No, no, Rihanna can do no wrong. It definitely was not her. But we've heard it time and time again. It supposed to convince us, you know, that everything had to happen exactly so, in order to teach us something about ourselves, in order for us to grow and meet our destiny. I think thats Bs. im sorry, mom, sorry. You know, breakups dont always lead to breakthroughs. Sometimes a girl dumps you after an awesome summer, and it sucks. And you learn nothing from it, but you eventually force yourself to move on anyways. But then the unthinkable happens, and you realize it's pointless to think of life that way"

Delilah looked over at the spot they saved for Susannah

"Lils" Susannah spoke up seeing her pass, she stopped before stepping into the room, her mom's of

"I dont think i've ever seen you in here" Delilah laughed a little sitting across from her

"Ugh, your mom assigned me this room to clean. It's the easiest, since i don't think she set foot in here once to do any writing in the summer"

"I thought you had cleaners you hire?" Delilah asked confused pulling her knees to her chest, smiling when Susannah shushed her smiling

"I love that ring on you, Lils" Susannah smiled grabbing her hand, looking at the silver heart ring, "Uh, Jeremiah told me what happened between him and Belly, after you did. I'm really glad you guys are better now"

"Well, i didnt think my summer would go like this at all, but i didnt wanna lose Jeremiah over something like that. Especially since... I just feel like im slowly losing everyone"

"You're not" Susannah shook her head, "It just takes time. You and Jere are meant to be, i promise. And this place is always here for you" she added as Delilah began to tear up

"Yeah, but you've made every summer here so perfect, Susannah. I mean, what's gonna happen when-"

"Lilah... you love this place the same way i do. If anyone can keep the perfect summer's going, it's you. You're my special girl. I need to call the cleaners" Susannah smiled getting up

Delilah stood up and hugged her tightly, "Promise me you'll never leave me"

"Never, Lils" she smiled kissing the top of her head

"Because everything just happens. You know, good things, bad things, all in ways that you'd never expect. All i ways that are so completely out of your control that they could just drive you insane. There are times where it feels like the world is happening to you, but remember that you are also happening to the world. so dont wait. Make what you want happen. Becuase tomorrow isnt promise, so you better make fucking sure that you are living today" Steven finished, everyone clapping and cheering for him

Melly and Delilah stood with Taylor and Belly, "He's so extra" Taylor spoke up looking at Steven, "Although he did earn it with that speech. It was good'

"That speech kind of pierced my soul" Belly said as the three girls laughed, "Dont laugh"

"Sorry, sorry"

"No, i feel like i've been living this nightmare ever since Susannah died" Belly sighed, Delilah nodded in agreement

"Maybe it's time to wake up" Taylor said before grabbing her phone once it went off, "Oh, i gotta go find Milo. He needs my help putting together a look for tonight"

"Mm, fun" Melly said putting her arm around Delilah

"Um, do you wanna come over after and help me with mine? Melly and Delilah will be there"

"No fucking way. You guys are coming?" Taylor asked looking between the three excitedly, "Yes"

"Yeah"

"Really?"

"mm, and im gonna sign up for varsity volleyball camp, too"

"Yes! Oh, my God! Babes, this party is going to be insane. Like, you guys are going to die when you see Milo play" Taylor smiled, Steven came over patting Taylor's arm

"Uh, no, yeah. I mean, you literally might, cause, whew, man, i could smell him from the podium"

"Really?"

"Yeah"

"Well, im sorry, excuse me. My man doesnt have that Korean gene that makes you have no body odor"

"Okay, all right, come on, Del, Belly. Mom and dad are meeting us at the restaurant" Steven said putting his arm around Delilah

"Bye, Mels" Delilah waved a little, "Bye, Del, i love you!"

"See you guys later!" Taylor waved

"It was a great speech. Susannah would have loved it" Delilah spoke looking at Steven who smiled, "I know. You know, im glad you guys are coming to the party tonight"

"Wow! Did i hear that correctly? I cannot believe this. You really want me, Del, Mels and Taylor at your party?"

"Well, i never said want. I just.. I just think it's better than Del moping around at home. Del, will you drive?" Steven asked passing her the keys

"I brought my car. Belly can drive" she said passing the keys to Belly

"Wait, really?"

"Yeah. I gotta read all the love in my DMs from my speech anyway. so, all right. come on. Follow us there, right?" Steven asked looking at Delilah who nodded

Steven sighed before hugging her tightly, "I love you, ok? She's proud of you always" he whispered kissing the top of her head

Everyone could see how hard Susannah's death was on Delilah, the girl didnt eat or talk for months, she finally got back into a habit of eating and kinda talking again after Steven and Jeremiah sat with her for hours, eating and talking about random things
