The deep and the dark

I gazed at Kakashi from my spot. I was outside of his office, watching him talk with some men about a possible drought this summer. Collecting water is now vital. I pouted; he got so busy at times. I held my shoulder; it was still hurting. I wanted him to look at it, but I didn't want to bother him.

He held his hand up suddenly, and his face turned to my hiding spot. "Mori, I will be with you in a moment. Come sit at the fireplace." He gestured to the couch in the room; it was a few feet from a burning fire.

I blushed as all the eyes went to me. I quickly went into the room and over to the couch. I sat there, embarrassed, as he finished talking. But at least now I would get my time with him. I clasped my hands together, excited, then winced. Gosh, this sure did hurt. I watched as the men left. I looked to the window, seeing that it was dark outside. They had a pretty late meeting.

Kakashi closed the door, then walked over to me. He sat in the chair adjacent to me. "So, my lovely, you wanted my attention?" He said with a little smirk.

I fidgeted, "Well, yes..."

He patiently waited for me to go on. "You can come find me any time you want. Sometimes I know I get busy; the passage of time moves differently for me. I blink, and mountains are born. I yawn, and a generation is gone."

I tilted my head, interested in his words. Well, I guess being so old, it happens like that. "To you then, it must seem like we haven't known each other for long." I asked nervously.

His expression softened a little. "No, I wonder how short my time felt. I wonder, How have I even lived before and how will I live after you?"

I blushed, "Oh, for me... it has begun to feel as if I have chased you for many life times." I whispered it, looking down at my hands, still feeling nervous. "But this isn't what I came here for; I wanted to see you, yes. I missed you. But, well, my shoulder still hurts, and you never looked at it?"

"Oh, yes." He said, worried. "Head back to your room; I will meet you there with a medical kit. I'm sorry, I was so distracted."

I got up and nodded, going to head for the door, but he stopped me for a moment. "And... I feel I have chased you for a long time as well. So lets not run anymore?" He said it sweetly.

I stared up at him, shocked, but then smiled at him. "That would be lovely." I whispered it as I left, looking back at him a little.

I made my way back to my room and paced for a moment. I undid my hair and brushed through it, pulling the first layers of my outfit off and laying them over the chair. It was chilly in here. I glanced at the fireplace. I didn't feel like calling for the maid since he would be here soon. I walked over and kneeled down, grabbing the wood and putting it into the fire place. I hadn't done this in a while.

"What did I tell you about being on your knee's like that?" Kakashi whispered it into my ear.

I yelled and dropped the wood. I smacked my head back into his. I grabbed it, whining in pain. "ehhh..." I turned glaring at him, "Why did you do that?" I cried at him.

He chuckled and patted my head, "Because you are cute. Now let me do that; if your shoulder is hurting, don't lift the wood."

I sighed, getting up and rubbing my head as I gave him space. He had the fire going in only seconds. "You are so good at it..." I mumbled it, going back to brushing my long hair. I sat with my legs crossed, facing slightly toward him. I was just in my simplest light layer. It was just enough to cover my body in the thin, flowing material.

Kakashi turned to me and froze.

"Well, I suppose it is to be expected after all this time. You would be very good at so many things. Perhaps in a few hundred year's I will be able to work magic by simply snapping my finger." I said it, snapping my fingers jokingly. I smiled at him. My smile faded and I looked at him worried.
