It was Christmas the same year when Max decided to pop the question. To be honest he already done that and Zoe was more than happy, but he had promised her to do it right, to go down on one knee and to hold up a ring.
The ring though was a beauty Max had bought some months ago. He had been in Monaco that day, missing Zoe as she was working in the headquarters. Together with Lando max had spend the whole day, playing some paddle before heading out for lunch.
In the afternoon they had been strolling through the streets of Monaco when they came pass a little job. Max immediately had fallen in love with a very specific diamond ring, not really caring about the price though.
Lando, who was still very close with Zoe, her best friend, also thought that she would love the ring. And without considering any other option Max had bought the ring, looking at it from there on, every time Zoe wasn't with him.
It was some weeks later when he had decided to do it on Christmas as he knew he couldn't do it alone and needed some help from his sister. As they would celebrate at her house, it would be the perfect opportunity.
"Is everything okay, you seem a bit tense today?" Zoe asked him as they were stepping out of the house with the rest of the family.
After the presents and dinner they had decided to go for a little walk, to be specific it had been Victoria's idea and it all was part of Max's plan.
"Yeah, everything is fine." the Dutchman quickly returned and laid an arm around his girlfriend's waist, pulling her closer before leaving a kiss on top of her head.
She looked stunning today, the dark green dress was beautiful and with her slightly curled hair she looked like an angel, perfect for today's occasion. Luka was holding Zoe's hand as they were walking through the snow on a little path through the nearby forest.
The whole nature was beautiful as the stars were shining bright. Zoe smiled as they walked pass a junction. If they would now turn left they would reach her's and Max's favorite spot here. Every time they been here, they visited this place, a little hill from where you had a beautiful view over the city.
Suddenly Max's phone started ringing.
"Sorry, I have to take this." the Dutchman excused himself and gestured for the other to go ahead.
"No, we can wait." Zoe said and wanted to stop, but also Luka played his part and pulled her further.
"No, I wanna go ahead, I wanna walk through the snow." the boy pouted and Zoe, on who's hand he was still walking, looked over to Tom and Victoria.
"I will wait for him, you guys go ahead." she said and Zoe sighed but then followed Tom, who had Lio on his arm.
After a while they decided to go back and Zoe started wondering as Max and Zoe hadn't come back.
"We're at the junction again, where are they?" she therefore asked and looked at Tom in question.
"I have no idea, maybe it was something important and he needed to go back." he returned before he added, "I don't have my phone here to call them, but I'm sure they are fine."
"Neither have I." Zoe mumbled and looked at the other path, over to her favorite spot.
Again Luka knew exactly what he had to do and therefore pulled on Zoe's hand.
"I wanna go this way." the boy beamed and turned right.
"But it's getting late sweetheart, and your uncle is also back already."
"No!" Luka returned but quickly corrected himself, "I wanna go there."
"Maybe we can take a short look and then go back." Tom suggested and Zoe agreed, slowly walking down the path out of the forest to the place from where you could look over the city.
