Milo

I thought they were just close friends to me. Like most people call close friends; best friends. But I've been feeling things I've never felt recently.

Before I got here I didn't like people. And I kinda feel the same way. The difference between now and then, I didn't have friends or enemies. Or enemies that turned into friends. I never had or wanted a girlfriend or anything, nor have I liked, liked someone. I just wanted to be by myself.

Now; I almost kissed a guy, cuddled with a guy in a lake, broke down in front of the guys who were my enemies, and nearly sacrificed myself to save my friends and some strangers.

This camp is something else, I'm doing and thinking things that I've never done or thought before. Over eight weeks ago if you would have told me that I nearly was killed for some people, I would have thought you were crazy.

Now I'm crushing over not just one, but two guys that I hated when I first got here. We argued, fought, etc. But here I am, crushing on them.

"A scavenger hunt?" I question. I'm not good at scavengers hunt because I suck ass at riddles.

"Yep, each cabin will receive a different riddle." A guy with black hair announced as basically all cabin people were here. And damn there are so many people. I hate being surrounded by this many people.

Still not a big people person

"You're apart of Lakeside Oaks cabin, here is your Scavenger hunt first clue." He hands me a paper that has the riddle written on it. Me and my cabin walks to the side. It reads

If you want to find out where I am, look where I am, look where you make yummy yam.

"The fuck?" Damien takes the riddle from me and seemingly rereads it. "This doesn't make sense, what the fuck is yam?"

"Does anyone know what yam is?" Cameron ask confusedly, and I just shrugged. I've never heard of what ever yam is.

"It's food, so I'm guessing it in the kitchen." Blake said, we all gave him a look, he was the only one who knew what yam was. "My family makes it every thanksgiving."

"To the kitchen!" Caleb delcared as he lead us to the kitchen. Once we got there we searched the next riddle, which took an embarrassingly long time.

"Found it!" I shouted. It was in the fridge. Which should have been one of the first places I looked.
It took us 15 minutes to find this. They gather around me and I read the note out loud this time.

The next clue is close in hand, just go back when your journey began

"Back to where we received the note." Cameron chimed. We all agreed, it was the only logical place. Right? We make our way back and began to look around the grass. Caleb even suggested we dig, but like hell I was gonna dig.

"Where our journey began... hm." Cameron placed his index finger on his chin as his brain began to sizzle. After a few seconds he stumbled a bit by someone knocking into him.

"Oh, my bad — oh, hey Cameron!" It was Mia. Cameron turned around and he looked like his brain short circuit for a sec when he saw her.

"O— Oh Mia!" He said, a bit too loud and I cringed. Oh boy. Let me guess, from his red face and embarrassing tone; he likes her.

"Can I join your group? My team is being assholes and not letting me help." Mia asks and he finally manages to get his shit together and nods.

"Of course. We're trying to figure this out." He points to the paper in my hand. She takes a look and thinks for a second before her eyes sparkle.

"Our journey began when we arrived here, at the entrance!" She exclaimed and everyone had the same expression on their faces. Oh. Of course our journey began when we first got here.

"You're right!" Cameron exclaimed as he snapped. She laughed a bit.

"Come on then, we gotta find that prize first. I found out that the entire camp is looking for same prize, just with different riddles to get to it." She explains and my brows raised. So who ever is fastest and good at riddles gets the prize.

This feels weird, but not in a bad way

I remember the first few weeks, she was a brat. She complained about how this place was unsanitary and how she couldn't have her phone. Not to mention she was always under Damien. Now, she has barely glanced at him since we found our way back to camp from the bear attack.

She's not complaining and is way less bratty. Not to mention, she's no longer acting like a jerk. But her friend, Leah, she's still the same bratty bimbo. Maybe that's why they've stopped talking as much, their minds are in two different places now.

"It's right there. You were right." Caleb pick up another piece of paper and opens it. We all peek closer and it reads, I'm a body without a beating heart, I can kill you, but you need me to live.

This one was way harder than the previous ones. This was more of a riddle. Maybe they get harder the further you go.

Damien grabs me and pulls me back. I realized that Caleb and Blake were back here as well.
"What? We need to figure out that riddle." I protest lightly.

"Look at them." Damien tells me.

I look back at the two and Mia seemed to be lost in thought. She was obviously trying to figure out the riddle.

"What's a body that can kill you..." Mia chewed at her lips as she crossed her arms.

"Literally anyone."

She looked up at Cameron and rolled her eyes as she chuckled, "You know what I meant. What things do we need to live. Food, shelter, water, air, organs, a soul."

"Ok. I don't think they want us to dissect anything.Wait, water! It has to be water. The lake."

"How are you so sure?"

"Technically the lake is a body of water. You need it to live and you can drown from it." Cameron explained and she gasped rapidly clapping.

"Let's go!" She grabbed his hand and dragged him.

"What did you do?" I sighed before turning around and looking at Damien.

"The hell are you talking about?" He lightly retorted. I don't believe that she is this happy to be around him. There is just no way in hell.

"She's rude, and a brat. Did you threaten her or something?"

"No, why would I do that?"

"Then why has she been so different lately. It's just hard to believe that under all that bitchiness, that she's actually a nice person." I say. I'm so used to her scoffing at the rest of us and going straight up to Damien and start flirting.

"You don't think I asked myself?" He laughed a bit, "I was glad she wasn't all over me anymore, but I wondered what happened. All she told me was she had a realization in the woods, one; that I didn't like her like that, not to mention she had that feeling since she met me. And two; that she understood why her father sent her here; because she was spoiled was bratty. So she wanted to change."

"It's like she's the a main character going through a change." Blake added, startling me slightly. I forgot he was here.

"Actually, she would be one of the antagonist switching sides." Caleb spoke as he watched the two make their way to the Lake.

"They are an interesting pair don't you guys think?" Blake countered. "Never would've thought. What do you think their love trope is?"

"Maybe friends to lovers." Caleb added.

"Spoiled x praiser." I said.

"He looks like he'd praise her." Caleb said, "He'd be such a sweet boyfriend. I low-key need a man like him in my life." I felt a pang of jealousy hit me. Hard. The hell does he mean a man like him?!

"Let's go before they notice we're not following." Damien said quickly as he was the first to rush off, and the rest of us of course followed.

I shouldn't feel this jealous over a sentence.
