Zander's P.O.V

Damian and I just stole the batmobile from the cave. We found a clue that might lead us towards why children were going missing in Gotham.

"I have half a mind to report you both for grand theft auto." Dad told us through our comms.

"I'd like to hear that call," Damian told him

"Hello police? My sons stole the batmobile, " I said, mocking him

"You both find this amusing?" Dad questioned us

"A little. We called and told you to meet us up here, didn't we?" I said to him.

"But what does a town that was wiped out by a flood three years ago have anything to do with the children that have gone missing in Gotham?" Dad asked us.

"Maybe nothing, but we found it a little odd that every one of them owned toys made here." Damian told him

"You both could have shared the information a little sooner." Dad told us

"An alternative response might be, "Good work, Sparrow and Robin. But I guess we expect too much." I told him

"I'm still a mile out. Don't do anything until I get there." Dad told us

"Word of honor, we won't do anything," I said as Damian opened a window. We turned on our flashlights and started searching the place.

"Remember, Robin, Sparrow. Justice, " Dad began. "Not vengeance, we know," We both said, interrupting him.

We found the children and heard a voice from behind us, and it was Dollmaker. He turned the children into his own doll army.

"You psychopath. You'll pay for this." Damian told Dollmaker. We began to fight the children when dad came through the skylight.

"We can take care of ourselves," Damian told Dad as he landed beside us.

"An alternate response might be thanks, Batman, but I guess I expect too much." Dad said, mocking us, and I chuckled a little bit.

I went after Dollmaker while Damian and Dad fought off the child-doll soldiers he made.

"There are dying children in the cages back there." I Yelled

"Some had to sacrifice so that the others could live," Dollmaker said, and I swung in and kicked him in the face.

"Shut up," I told him

"As children, they're helpless, but as dolls, no one can ever hurt them again. No one can." He told me with fear in his voice

"You want to know about helplessness? Let me teach you." I told him as I pulled out a Batarang.

"Why won't you listen, I love them." He began, but I stopped him

"Shut up, or I'll tear your heart out. Do you hear me? I'll tear it out." I said, aiming the batarang at him but then remembered what dad said.

"Justice, not vengeance," I said to myself, but then I heard him get stabbed, and I turned back around.

This guy came out of nowhere and held Dollmakers heart.

"Don't doubt your instincts, kid." ??? said to me as he flipped through the trees and left.

"What have you done?" Dad asked me

"You think that I.." I begin, but dad stops me

"After all these months together, all I've taught you, you revert to the assassin your grandfather wanted you to be." Dad scolded me.

"I could have done it easily, but I didn't. Out of respect for you, Dad." I told him

"State police are here there are more on their way, who did it?" Damian asked me.

"Figure it out for yourself." I said, running off.

"Sparrow," Dad and Damian called after me.

*Wayne Manor*

I was asleep in the library. I snored, and it got Dad and his date's attention.

"Ugh, I was reading. I must've fallen asleep. What's going on?" I asked

"And who might this be?" The woman asked

"I'm Zander, Bruce's..." I began

"My ward, well, he will be soon." dad told her

"That's twice. You surprised me tonight." The woman said

"Zander has had a difficult life, and I don't want those vultures in the press descending on him just yet. So we've been..." dad said

"Keeping me a secret," I finished

"Only until the paperwork has been finalized. Then we'll proudly announce the newest addition to our family." Dad said, messing up my hair.

She soon left for an emergency board meeting, leaving just me and dad in the room.

"You were awake the whole time, weren't you?" Dad asked me

"Not the whole time, She's very attractive. A hair pretentious and definitely a bit shallow but." I was saying until dad grabbed the book out of my hand.

"What are you reading?" Dad questioned.

"I finished Verne, so I'm making my way through Dickens. Why, what did I do wrong now?" I asked him

"Nothing, but have you ever watched the 1948 movie version directed by David Lean?"

"Grandfather wasn't much of a movie buff." I told him

"Well, I am Alfred, popcorn drenched in butter, and open the screening room." Dad told Alfred over a comm.

"I would reconsider the butter, sir, bad for the cholesterol." Alfred told him.

"Let's be risky tonight, Alfred." Dad said, and I ran out the door.

"I want my own bowl." I told him, and we left for the screening room.
