Chapter 7

Zander's P.O.V

Me and dad are getting patched up by Dick when Damian climbs through the window.

"Where were you?" Dad asked him

"What happened to you two? Are you okay?" He asked us, and I just glared at him.

"You don't get to ask questions? Now where the hell were you?" I asked him.

"Out," He remarked

"Where?" Dad asked him.

"Just out," Damian told us

"Out has suddenly become a far more dangerous place." Dad told him, and I noticed the sai in his utility belt.

"What's this?" I asked, grabbing it.

"That's mine." He told me, trying to take it back.

"I don't think so,"Dad told him.

"So what are you going to do now? Build a dungeon and lock me up in it?" Damian asked him.

"Despite what you may think, he's our father, Damian, not our jailer." I  told him, and he looked at me.

"A biological doesn't make him our father, and it sure as hell doesn't make us his sons," He yelled at me, and I just walked out of the room.

"There's a school in Switzerland run by a retired general who knows far more than I do about boys and discipline. Try this again, and that's where you'll be spending the next year." I heard dad tell him.

Dad and Dick soon walked out of the room and talked. I decided to stay quiet and let them talk.

"You know I did my share of sneaking out to back in the day." Dick told us.

"Those things are out there Dick, if batman's a target, so is he." Dad said.

"Then talk to him about it, tell him what you and Zander went through out there." Dick said to him.

"He doesn't listen," Dad told him.

"But Bruce, he's..." Dick begin

"He's not you Dick, before I took you in, you had loving parents. You had a heart." Dad told him

"And he doesn't?" Dick questioned

"That's not what I mean or is it I don't know. Maybe biological ties aren't enough to make a man a father or a boy, his son." Dad said, and I just sat down on the floor

"What about you and me, though dad?" I asked him

"Zander, I'm sorry that I couldn't protect you out there, but I would like to know your insight on this conversation." Dad said, bending down to my level.

"I don't think the same as Damian about the whole biological accident thing, I just think that if we learned about you sooner or you knew about us, then things might have been different." I told him we hugged.

"Also, I see Dick as an older brother." I told him and then went over to hug Dick, we went down to the Batcave soon after.

"I thought you upgraded the security wall?" Dick asked dad.

"I did." Dad told him

"I shut the outgoing system down sir." Alfred told Dad.

"Why?" Dad asked Alfred.

"Master Damian said he felt like a prisoner in his own home. I thought that if he tried to leave again and saw that there was nothing keeping him here that you did trust him, then Sometimes you just have to have a little faith sir." Alfred told Dad.
