FOURTY-THREE

The Drowning Indestructible Phantom

Sadie and Inez looked at each other in defiance and to Inez's surprise, the much younger girl was holding her ground much better than her. It was the first ever interaction between the two direct Vimgards and the conversation that was bound to happen had finally come.

"You're not like... my sister, are you?" Inez said with a look of slight disgust at the thought. "No, so don't worry, we won't have some family bonding moment."

Sadie then continued, "Although, our heritage cannot be ignored. We are both direct lines to the Vimgard bloodline and possess unnatural birthrights. It's just such a shame you've joined a group of self-serving people who will only use your ability for their own good."

"I'm just as self serving as them." Inez shrugged, unbothered.

Sadie hummed as a response and looked at Lace on the couch reading, inattentive and uninterested in their quarrel. Lace Creed decided to make more use of her time in going against her brother's wishes of not having her participate in the chaos. Instead, she decided to retrace from the start and piece everything back in a new light. Although it looked promising, Sadie hadn't interfered as she agreed with Chase Creed despite hating him tremendously.

"Listen, Inez. Abourne is the past. However, you are the future. Do not dwell on what's dead and burried. You move forward like the rest of the world, like what your own ancestors have done. You are a Vimgard, start acting like one."

"What do you think you know, child?" Inez insulted.

Sadie chuckled, rolling her eyes. "This child knows you are stuck in the past. And self sulking and resisting won't change your regrets."

"I don't regret anything and I certainly don't appreciate your fallacious fabrications."

"I know you're full of regrets. Believe it or not, I can read you like an open book. So from one Vimgard to another, don't spend your living days regretting what you have committed to. No amount of praying can retract you from the situation. There's no way out for any of us. So make the most out of it." Sadie stood up and didn't realize Lace had followed her out of the manor.

She turned back and smiled hugely at Lace Creed's sweet beam.

"I studied the Vile building's blueprints over and over and just when I thought there wasn't anything I missed– guess what I find?"

Sadie Vimgard raised her eyebrow, unsure of what to feel about such a question. What good news could she bring about that forsaken building? But she gave her the benefit of the doubt and surely she was given news that brought her more trouble than it did to Lace Creed. "There's an almost undetectable lair in the building and its digital marks have an off chart sensor that allows indestructible energies to be withheld without it being compromised or compromising."

Sadie cuffed Lace's cheeks and her eyes widen which Sadie only thought to be adorable. "You sweet genius." And kissed her right cheek. As she opened the door she faced Lace one more time and said, "Promise not to tell anyone? Just– not yet, okay?"

Lace Creed with incredibly hot cheeks nodded with an empty mind for the first time. Sadie then sprinted into the manor leaving Lace to pick up her thoughts that have spilled everywhere.

She easily finds Cassidy Idgen who usually spent her nights by the pool, prolonging her breath under the water. In the water with darkness, silence, and the pressure of a beating heart was when she thought best, and she had done more thinking than her whole life in a span of a few days. Sadie waited for a mere twenty seconds until Cassidy rose up and inhaled deeply, grasping for air.
