CHAPTER FOURTY-ONE
The Anatomy of the Viles

The anatomy of the Vile family is morbid. They have been the cause of destruction within the city of Ashgrim that are hidden away to present lies of pleasantries. It was a common idea for a bloodline to follow throughout generations of expectations and ideals. Ashgrim's prideful family had been the Vile bloodline for centuries.

August Vile had been the first to break and go against her family's wishes. It was not a battle of good or bad, it was simply an idea of rebellion and disagreement in the benefits of what her family constantly chased after. August Vile did not care for the destructions of war. Not the preparation, the ongoing, the outcome. None of that. Fiery and gruesome was her nature, it was not news that she did not care for the killings done to get to the goal. She simply did not want her mother to take more power. She has had enough of that, more than a lifetime's worth.

August Vile and Oceanna Murray Vile did not have an impaired relationship since her birth. They had surprisingly gotten along, and although it was not the usual mother-daughter relationship, something other than hatred was present. The two had a taste for breaking norms: one of the greatest ones being women in their area of expertise. It had started out with Oceanna stepping up to the men's role in the family, and that is being the Valkyrie.

Oceanna Murray Vile was well aware of her family's history and inherited the ideals and standards they have had for many years. Though she was enormously unaware of one important aspect: she was not the first woman in the entire history of the Vile's rise of power to be the leader, to be the Valkyrie. It was Sawile Vile, the woman who challenged the patriarchy and married the Vile leader of her time. She then stepped up to the role when he was physically incapable after getting incredibly sick. With her authority and power, she chased down her true love: Vermithis Ashgrim. A bitterful sweet tragedy, the villain with no care for what's hurtful or not, she did what she thought would get Vermithis' attention. Unfortunately for her, it only did the opposite.

Being the Valkyrie is a very specific and controlling job. Getting there was not easy. Many did not approve of a woman on the throne, and many attempted to take away the very little chance of one sitting on it. But unfortunately for them, Oceanna was one hell of a prize out of her hardships. She refused to step down and asserted dominance in taking the seat of the supposed "wisdom and power". The Vile family of Cassidy Idgen's time was small: a heiress, a top notch leader, and his wife. Following the demise of his ancestor, he had fallen ill and happily turned his status to Oceanna, naming his beloved wife the Valkyrie. Not too soon after, he had passed away, and his daughter had become unruly. Became a killer, an assassin.

And thanks to her mother, she was a pretty good one at that. Their relationship surrounded greatly on their bond for training, the two desiring to be the greatest amongst watchmen. But it was an unappealing dream and Oceanna had understood it too late, already stringing her daughter too far in her own dream. When her beloved father passed away and suddenly her mother grows colder than usual without care for his husband, she had also understood too late the lengths her mother would go for herself.

Even as August ran around Ashgrim trying to get under her mother's skin, Oceanna had never taken her seriously. She all looked at it like child's play. She had trained August herself and every move had been mirrored. Out of disgust, August took it to her own will to be much greater than what she had been given. The moment August held all playing cards and her mother no longer could predict her moves, having been throwing away the cards her mother dealt her, Oceanna truly saw her daughter held a grudge. For she became not only Ashgrim's greatest assassin, but sided with the enemy.
