CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT
Collided Catastrophe
One thing about the Vimgards is they all knew how to fight. Really fight. And they knew how to lead, but still followed Cassidy like lost puppies. It was definitely difficult to adjust the first time as Cassidy found it unusual. Their loyalty beyond the days then became of great value to her, they opposed scarcely, and they respected her even when she was untrained and emotional. They had seen her grow in such a short time to become someone unrecognizable, but their treatment hadn't changed.
The growing malicious temperament of August Vile was like no other, an apocalyptic withering rose, so deadly it would kill anyone that would approach it. To nurture it was to call for a death sentence, the profoundly deep thirst to constrain its unnatural being was a grand dismay, its vulnerability is its own darkness, no thing in the world could ever reach it. The silver lining to it was Cassidy Idgen had a thing for defiance, she no longer minded feeble onslaught, the world has become much bigger. But she hated that the world suddenly seemed so small being around the assassin, it was imperfect, and it only drew her deeper into the abyss of uncertainty. Without realizing, she followed her out.
And the Vimgards let it be. They despised August, but they trusted Cassidy, and their protection grew as far as it could go; no proximity would prevent them from forcing all their will to make sure no harm came to her. And they knew, they knew, Cassidy Idgen was no longer weak. Her power harnessed great strength from her mind and force power, the continuity of the source within her only kept growing and becoming stronger that sometimes containing it was difficult.
Cassidy Idgen and August Vile's eyes sharply connected, unfamiliar with each other. Cassidy noticed August's hair was down, no longer in a ponytail. She looked strikingly feminine, her beauty so appalling, people would stupidly be appalled to her without knowing what was behind her seducing stare. "You look well." Cassidy remarked.
August raised an eyebrow, taken back at the compliment. Cassidy breathed in, she had thought of this moment everyday. She had never admitted that August Vile had occupied her mind every breathing moment, ashamed to have the memory of her presence being a driving force to grow determination. She had thought it was the burning hatred and desire to show the assassin she was worth so much more. But as she stood in front of her, she could not initiate such fire. But her heart ached with so much hatred, scratching every corner of her thoughts attempting to pull every string possible to get her mouth to open and throw every insolent thing she could tell her.
"It had been some time since your miserable presence."
Cassidy scoffed. "Unbelievable." She muttered.
"You know how many would die to have even just a small percent of your ability? To make people run away from them out of fear? But you– you ran with it. That's cowardly, Idgen."
"Why do you indulge in being despondent, August? You certainly can't blame it on your roots, your mother is only half horrible as you." This sparked immense anger out of the assassin, to be called by her first name, to have her mother mentioned in the same sentence. "My truest name holds no value to you but you'd be astonished to discover that it holds the lowest worth to me, deeper than the slums of Babylon." Cassidy smirked, satisfied to have brought something out of her composure.
"I was told to run, August." Cassidy corrected her. "You and I know your childlike crave for power is not revolutionary. All of you. It took me some time to realize it, but I denied the inclination simply because I thought I knew what real power looks like. But seeing the desperation in the Vile family," she said sharply, her words wrapped with venom, "The real power is already with me."
