CHAPTER FOURTY-SIX
PART TWO: Your Safety Is My Pain
Disparity is an obscure beauty in the context of needing nothingness. It is a complicated idea to be planted in a mind of someone that has and wants everything. Zakeen Nadir his whole life had never felt the longing lack of contentment for something or someone that has been taken away from him. He had just grown to the dream of being with Abourne Blaque forever and ever, but that has been cut loose when she had left the premise of his safety for a few days.
He crouched underneath the leaves of the tree from a distance as he stood guard while Lace and Sadie opened the vent into the backside of the Vile building. When he heard a loud iron rattle on the ground, he ran immediately after the two girls who rushed into the extremely tight vent. He closed the vent and it became very dark and suddenly the feeling of claustrophobia rushed into their bodies.
Lace was leading the way as they crawled in a vigilant manner despite the brushes of cobwebs and the echoes of all sorts of insects. She whispered repeatedly as she recalled the directions of the blueprint– they turned two rights, and a left, then another right, and crawled a very long way before finally reaching the very end. The room was dark which signified that it was empty and unguarded. Lace pushed the vent and after a few desperate attempts, it opened up. "It won't be a soft drop, be careful." She said and dropped down with a loud groan. "Are you okay?" Sadie hung down the vent but could not make a figure out of Lace in the darkness. "Mhm.." Lace said as she held onto her bruised elbow. Sadie followed down landing ungracefully and so did Zakeen.
Sadie silently opened the door and peeked her head out, greeted with an empty and dim hallway. They then stepped out and followed Lace's lead, finding their way to the room they presumed to be where Abourne was held captive in. Lace halted into a hard stop by the sharp corner, luckily avoiding the two watchmen posted. She looked at Sadie and Zakeen who gave her questioning looks.
She put a finger on her lips, telling them to stay silent. The intercept of their mission gave them an alarming disparity of options. Sadie gave Lace a suggestive look and although she didn't expect for her to know what was on her mind, Lace shook her head with a blazing anger. Sadie pulled her to the side and replaced Lace's spot to get a clearer view of the watchmen in order for her to work her ability. When she had spotted her two targets, their presence settled in her mind.
"Punch me in the stomach," She whispered.
"NO I am not doing that." Lace refused.
Sadie wasted no time convincing her and looked at Zakeen, knowing well enough he would do anything for the person he loved. As Lace was about to interfere, Sadie had already let her body consume the source and Zakeen threw a horrifying punch right into her guts. Sadie softly whimpered, tears forming in her eyes, but made no noise to attract the watchmen. But on the other side, the two men screeched with pain.
Sadie's lips tugged into a smile and whispered under her breath, "Pussies."
They took their queue as the distracted watchmen squirmed in anguish and sprinted towards the other end of the hallway. On the end of the right corner was posted with five watchmen. "This is it."
Sadie eyed Zakeen who was already well aware of the plan. "No more." Lace warned. "It's okay, I'm already in a little pain. Just throw a little punch. We'll get the weak one out, the lesser the better." Zakeen nodded and as he lifted his clenched fist, Lace shifted it away into the air, making him stumble. She took off the infinity ring from her finger that Maeve had given to her. She threw the ring past the five watchmen and when they all simultaneously looked at the direction where it dropped, Lace pushed Zakeen to the other end of the hallway. She then stepped up into the open area of the four way hallway. They all looked at her and leaped speedily.
