CHAPTER FOURTY-FIVE
PART ONE: Return of the Past

The truth had never been much simpler. There was a cognitive fact of all the surrounding walls of Ashgrim: they were glued with its binding history and the tiniest revelation could destroy it whole. Like a stigmatic downfall so endeavoring on behalf of its biggest foundation, Vermithis Ashgrim.

The watchmen stood with great pride, their swords enough to penetrate the skulls of the tiny number of bandits. They were hopeless, they would be hopeless. But they stood great chance as Cassidy Idgen stood with them. The rain grew heavier as it fell harshly on the grounds of Ashgrim as the lightning simultaneously hit their eardrums tremendously. Oceanna Murray Vile appears out of the ocean of watchmen with a smug smile. She looked at Cassidy Idgen with challenging eyes, trying to entice her one more time. "We would've never come to this if you just joined me, Cassidy."

"I've chosen my side." Cassidy smiled.

"Them?" She mockingly looked at them all as though insulted to be fighting against youngsters. Cassidy scoffed and said, "No. I'm on Vermithis' Ashgrim's side."

Oceanna's head sprang back towards Cassidy. Cassidy could notice her startled look and greatly took pleasure of the sight. "You know nothing." She harshly said. "I'm so tired of people telling me that." Cassidy rolled her eyes. "You think building a world would keep people from peering into the inside. But you are so wrong, Oceanna. Because we'll look even closer. There's no such thing as perfect, we humans are rotten, and any world with us in it, rots. So we will tear down these walls even if we'd have to get down to the last very bit with our teeth and flesh. We will see what world your family has destroyed to keep this one alive."

"Not in this life you will."

"Especially this one, Oceanna. Everything is fueled by love in this life."

"What about the next?" She questioned.

"It will be fueled by grief." And in a jumble of seconds, Inez shouted, "CASSIDY!" She looked at the Vimgard with wide eyes and picked up the signal, the source expanding instinctively, wrapping around to protect them. And just three seconds later, an explosion of a bomb repulsed without warrning. Cassidy and Inez looked at each other with a silent acknowledgement of gratitude after the walls of the source fell back down. The watchmen scattered around, covering every area, initiating combat. Oceanna Murray Vile was nowhere to be found and chaos had begun to break out as people of Ashgrim scrambled in panic. Cassidy breathed in deeply, the air sharply hitting every corner of her throat. Then, she unveiled the source, beautifully forming around her hands.

She defensively stopped the number of watchmen with bullets creating shields that blocked it mid-air. The bullets fell on the ground, cranking, mixing with the rain's loud volume. In the distance, she sees August Vile up against nearly twenty men. And even with her great skill of seemingly being untouchable, she was slightly struggling. Cassidy divided her attention on both hands as one focused on stopping the bullets from hitting anyone especially herself while the other drifted its way towards August's daggers, wrapping graciously. Groans of men grew louder and Cassidy knew her assistance was of success.

Devin Ashdown felt like he would slip at any second as he sprinted on the wet ground, constantly switching his position. He aggressively pulled on the string of his bow, making a loud sound everytime, and it seemed like it could break at any second. But it remained firm throughout the entire duration. He slid between two men and they collided, giving him enough time to shoot an arrow at the right angle, hitting both of them. He proudly smiled and jumped up, looking around to see if anyone had seen it, but everyone else was too busy fighting. He groaned and continued anyway.
