Tanya stopped the car outside and took a moment to survey the surroundings. The opulent mansion loomed before them, a stark contrast to the tension in the air.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Mumtaz asked again, her voice trembling slightly.
"Yeah. Of course," Tanya affirmed, her resolve unwavering. Mumtaz sighed and glanced at the mansion, worry etched on her face.
"Tanya, it's very risky," she said, trying to dissuade her friend.
"And I love taking risks," Tanya retorted proudly. "Now, let's hop out. Remember the dialogues I taught you."
Both women stepped out of the car and walked towards the mansion. Tanya took note of every detail as they approached the doorstep, her eyes widening at the sight of Andrew's bodyguards.
"What the..." She stopped abruptly and hid behind a nearby wall.
"Hey, what happened?" Mumtaz asked worriedly.
"Nothing, nothing," Tanya laughed nervously. "Oh God, what are they doing here? Is he also here?" She bit her nails in anxiety.
"Um... ma'am, how many people are in the house right now?"
"Zafar and one assistant. Zain is out with my friend," Mumtaz replied, and Tanya sighed in relief.
"Okay. Let's go." Tanya dropped the burqa veil over her face.
"As-salamu alaykum," Tanya greeted Andrew's bodyguards, who stared at her oddly. They ignored her and continued standing like statues.
"Oho, they didn't recognize my voice," Tanya grinned with satisfaction.
Mumtaz rang the doorbell, and Zafar opened the door, glaring at her.
"WHERE WERE YOU?" Mumtaz flinched at his tone. The guards narrowed their eyes at him, prompting Zafar to change his approach instantly.
"I mean, where were you, sweety? I was waiting for you," he said in a sickly sweet voice. Tanya rolled her eyes and mimicked him under her breath.
"I went to meet my friend," Mumtaz replied.
"Friend?" Zafar arched an eyebrow suspiciously.
"Yeah, and she came with me."
"Oh, and where is this friend of yours?"
"As-salamu alaykum, jiju!" Tanya shrieked, jumping out from behind Mumtaz and startling him. Zafar and the guards covered their ears in shock.
"Wa alaykumu as-salam," he replied, recovering from the surprise.
"Won't you invite us in?" Tanya asked, blinking her eyes innocently.
"Of course. Come in." Zafar said. Tanya pushed past him, entering the house. Mumtaz glanced at Zafar apologetically, receiving a glare in return.
Zafar fumed as he watched Tanya sit on his royal couch like a queen.
"Why are you both standing? Come and sit. Mumtaz, you sit with me." Tanya pulled Mumtaz beside her. "Jiju, you sit on that chair." She pointed to a sofa meant for less important guests. Zafar exhaled loudly, controlling his anger, and sat down.
"So, what is your name?"
"Mahira Khan." Mumtaz stifled a laugh. Zafar frowned.
"That's an actress's name."
"Yeah, is there a problem with me having that name?" Tanya asked seriously.
"No, no, no. No problem," he replied immediately.
