Chapter 1

"What story do you wanna hear before playing, apo?" My lola sweet voice filled my ears, she was combing hair and fixing my dress.

It's my father's birthday and we have a lot of visitor outside, kahit na excited akong makipaglaro sa mga kaibigan na bibisita ay nanatili pa rin ako rito sa silid ko. I am just used na aayusan muna ako ni lola at magkukuwento siya ng mga stories.

I have no idea if her stories are base on true events or not, pero ang husay niya! I really love my lola when it comes to telling stories.

"I want love story, lola." I suggest, smiling widely as I saw the color pink comb in her hands.

Ngumiti si lola at tumango. "You know I have this story that is a secret to everyone, and will you keep it also a secret between us?" She asked first, kumunot ang noo ko dahil mukhang naging seryoso si lola.

I could see something in her eyes, but as an eight years old kid; I couldn't name it.

"Glorya and Pril was very good friends since elementary that they keep their friendship until they become adult. Suddenly, Pril has a crush to Felip that she keeps on chasing him. But then after several years of waiting and chasing, she learned that she and Felip doesn't have a chance since Felip eyes was always into Glorya." Patuloy ang pagsusuklay ni lola sa buhok ko, I looked at her with my pouting lips.

"That's crazy! Glorya is her best friend." Nagtatampo kong saad and then my grandmother just chuckled, hinaplos nito ang likod ko.

"Glorya is a woman who have a big dream, a perfect one which is very opposite to Pril that's also the reason wht Felip likes Glorya more. But Glorya doesn't like Felip because she have a very big dream alone that she left the town, hindi alam ni Pril ang mararamdaman. Malulungkot dapat siya kasi aalis ang kaibigan niya, but when the moment that Glorya step inside the airport; ngumiti si Pril. She think that this is the time! magiging sa kanya na si Felip. And then she waited again, still telling him how much she loves him since day one. A lot of things happened that Felip starts to develop his feelings to Pril, years and years later. . ." My grandmother stopped, huminga ito ng malalim at ngumiti sa akin.

As if telling me that it's okay to be sad if this story won't be a happy ending.

"Glorya cameback, then Felip realized that he doesn't fall for Pril because of Pril. She fall for her because she reminds him of Glorya. His first love. Pril becomes crazy, she lose herself until she couldn't find any hope to back what she was before." And then lola dropped the comb on the table, napaupo ako ng maayos dahil do'n.

"What happened next, lola?" I asked, tumayo pa ako at hinawakan ang kamay niya. She just chuckled and caressed my hair.

"The lesson here is that you shouldn't lose yourself just because of one guy, don't be crazy in love because love brings peace." She smiles again.

"But. . ."

"I couldn't tell you what happened next because it will just break your innocent heart and I don't want that." My grandmother always taught me to be brave and independent, and that story made me think for years.

She didn't break my heart, but she left me with the idea of men first love theory; that I should be the man's first love so that I wouldn't be like Pril.

"DO my princess want an orange juice?" My daddy asked me, still cheering me up after we visit lola on the hospital.

I am ten years old now, nagsisimula na ring magkasakit si lola dahil matanda na ito. Kaming dalawa lang ni daddy ang bumisita since busy si mommy sa company niya tapos si ate naman ay nag-aaral.

Holiday kasi ngayon sa school namin since birthday ng principal kaya nakasama pa ako kay daddy.

"Dad? is lola going to be okay? I saw blood in her panyo po kanina, I am worried." Sumbong ko kay daddy habang kinukuha niya ang orange juice sa loob ng refrigerator.
