A brand new day and a brand new shift. Olivia was covering on Ambulance 67 as Chase had to complete some mandatory training in order to keep his Squad certification in date.
"Okay so that's all the bags checked, everything else stocked?" Olivia asked Heidi who had been checking stock into the rig. When she was on Ambulance with Heidi, Olivia was automatically the PIC as she had more years of experience and training compared to Heidi.
"Yep, ready to rock and roll." Heidi nodded, jumping out the back door.
"Perfect."
"Ahh, ladies. I just got word from dispatch. Ambulance 67 is going on standby at a police raid. Here's the address. You'll be fully briefed once you get there." Boden told the two medics, handing over a piece of paper with this address on.
"Copy that Chief." Olivia nodded.
"I've never been involved in a police raid before." Heidi told Olivia as they closed the doors and jumped out of the ambulance.
"You'll be fine. It's like a 50/50 chance that we'll just be sitting in the ambo whilst it all goes down." Liv shrugged as she started wheeling the supply cart back to the stockroom. Olivia knew how these things worked, so after stopping off for a few snacks on the way, they headed off to the location they were given by PD. Pulling up behind the warehouse, Olivia recognised a lot of the officers around. Some she had met through work, others through Molly's and some were friends with Antonio. She started slowing down as she spotted Officer Marshall up ahead. He waved her over.
"We good at parking it here?" Olivia asked Officer Marshall as she pulled the ambo off to one side. He nodded so Olivia hopped out of the ambo with Heidi.
"It's good to see you again." Olivia shook his hand.
"This is Heidi. Heidi, this is officer Marshall, he worked with Antonio in Vice." Olivia explained. Heidi shook his hand.
"Come on. Briefings about to start." He told the pair. The two paramedics followed him over to the huddle of officers that were near the command post. They had set up two streets over from the actual raid so no-one knew they were there.
"That's Sargent Clay, one of the leads in Narcotics." Marshall told the two medics.
"Right." Liv nodded. Clay started the briefing.
"We've staked out a warehouse a few blocks from here. The target, who we've code-named the Big Boss, is a drug trafficker. He and his crew will arrive soon and make a buy from our undercovers." He started to explain.
"Intelligence is here as they made the initial discovery on their current case. They've got their own suspects they're after." Clay continued to explain. Olivia looked round and smiled when her eyes landed on Antonio. He smiled back.
"We move in, and the local PD makes the arrest. Questions?" Clay asked everyone.
"Good. Everyone is on their radios and ready to move." Clay finished before they all split off. Antonio and Ruzek walked over to the two medics who had just been handed bullet proof vests to put on as a precaution. Antonio instinctively reached forward and started helping Liv with her vest so Liv helped Heidi.
"The important thing is to stay here until we give you the green light to move in. These guys are dangerous, so do not move in until you hear from us." Ruzek told the two medics.
"Dangerous? Dangerous how? Like, we could get shot? Is that why you gave us vests?" Heidi asked, clearly freaked a little. After the hostage situation a few shifts back they were all still on edge.
"We're gonna be fine Heidi, it's just a precaution." Olivia tried to reassure her partner.
"They're gonna barge in, arrest the guy, and then congratulate themselves with high fives or butt-slapping or whatever, and the whole time, we're never gonna leave this lot.
We're just gonna sit here and then go back to the firehouse. We're like earthquake insurance. Don't really need it, but it's nice to have." Olivia explained, knowing all too well about how these raids went. She had attended multiple raids in the past, back in Seattle as medical back-up, so she knew how these things tended to go.
"She's right. Except for the butt thing. We don't do that." Ruzek joked.
"Set your radios for Ds2. Stay in your vehicle. Do not get out or leave for any reason." He added.
"Uh-huh." Heidi nodded as she climbed into the ambulance.
"Be careful." Olivia leant forward and kissed Antonio.
"Always." He smiled and kissed her back before walking away with Ruzek.
"Time to get comfortable." Liv stated as she climbed into the passenger seat of the ambulance.
It was almost 30 minutes later by the time the raid actually took place. Olivia and Heidi sat and listened over the radio to everything that was happening. It sounded pretty tense.
"All units, breach, breach!" Sargent Clay called over the radio. For some reason, Olivia's heart rate instantly shot up. She knew what Antonio did for a living and how risky it was but she had never really been this close by before when he was working. The last proper time she had actually 'worked' with him in the field was practically the day they actually first met. They listened as things started coming over the radio. They had caught a group of people already but they were still searching the warehouse. Olivia tensed when a mayday came over the radio.
"Man down. We have an officer down. Paramedics stand by." Seconds felt like minutes as they waited for something else, anything else, to come over the radio. Nothing. All Olivia wanted to do was jump into action but she knew they couldn't approach the scene until they had been given the all clear. Then it finally came. Not only did the radio roar to life once again but it was an instant relief when it was Antonio's voice that came over the radio.
"This is 50-21 Frank. All clear. I repeat all clear. Send in the medics, we have an officer down." Hearing Antonio's voice over the radio made Olivia sighed with relief and switched into work mode. Heidi switched on the engine and pulled away, driving the two blocks to the other warehouse where the raid was. As soon as they pulled up, Liv grabbed one of the medical bags before they were escorted in by an officer. She was happy to see Antonio safe and sound.
"What do we have?" She asked, kneeling down next to the officer.
"He was hit in the shoulder. Minimal blood loss." Dawson handed over to them.
"I'm Liv, what's your name?" She asked the officer as she started assessing the wound whilst Heidi pulled out supplies.
"Davis-ahh, Mike."
"Well Mike, looks like you got lucky. Your vest stopped one bullet and this is just a through and through. You're gonna be alright." Olivia reassured him as she applied a trauma pad to the wound.
"You guys alright?" She quickly asked her husband as she swapped places with Heidi.
"Yeah." He nodded. She went back to treating their patient.
"Do you think you can walk to the ambo?" Liv asked Mike. He nodded. They helped him up and Heidi started walking him to the ambo as Liv grabbed the bags.
"I'll see you tomorrow night?" She asked Antonio as he walked her out. She was on shift until the morning so she wouldn't see him until after his shift tomorrow.
"Yeah. I'll text you later." He told her, quickly planting a kiss on her cheek before they went separate ways. Livi loaded up the gear before she climbed into the driver's side.
"You ready to go?" Liv asked Heidi.
"Yeah, all good here." Heidi responded. Olivia switched on the engine before pulling away. Ambulance 67 pulled back into the firehouse around an hour later.
"Sounds like you guys had an interesting morning." Severide said to the medics as they started walking inside.
"Yeah coz police raids are always so fun." Olivia said sarcastically.
"At least everyone made it out alright." She added.
"Now I just wanna grab something to eat-" She mentally cursed as the alarm sounded, assigning the ambo to another call.
"Dammit." She mumbled, turning around, and jogging back over to the ambulance.
The following evening, Olivia had just finished working out in their little home gym room, which she tended to do most days after a shift, when Antonio finally arrived home.
"Hi." She smiled and gave him a kiss.
"How was your day?" She asked him before she downed some water.
"It was good. Mostly paperwork." Antonio explained.
"You hungry? Because I didn't know what to cook so I thought we'd just order something." Olivia told her husband.
"Hmm, sounds good." He said, pulling her towards him.
"I'm all sweaty."
"I don't care." He shrugged, wrapping his arms around her.
"I was about to go have a shower if you wanted to join me." Olivia smirked.
"Hmm, yes. Yes I do." He nodded, pulling her in for a kiss.———————————————————
A/N: I realised that besides when they first met, I haven't really written Antonio/Olivia working together or near each other, so here we go! What did you think? Let me know what you want to see next! :)
