Sequel to Memories. A few weeks after their wedding, Olivia and Antonio return to normality from their honeymoon. Both jumping straight back into work, will they adjust to the post-honey phase? Will things continue to run smoothly or will their hect...
It had been a surprisingly busty shift at firehouse 51. Truck 81 had been on a total of 9 calls and it wasn't even the end of shift yet. They had just gotten back and sorted the equipment. Liv had made her way into the common room to grab some coffee when the alarms sounded once again.
"I just want coffee." Olivia whined loudly as she put down the coffee jug and mug she was holding before she started following the others to the vehicles. "MVA's are a popular one today." Olivia stated as they were en-route. This was the 4th car accident truck 81 had dealt with this shift so far and it was only three quarters of the way through.
Jumping out of the truck and taking in the scene in front of them, Olivia's stomach instantly dropped. "That's Antonio's truck!!" She shouted as she took off running towards the upturned truck. "Antonio?" She called out, diving to the floor to look inside the truck. "I'm alright, I'm just pinned." Hearing his voice made her sigh with relief. Ignoring Casey calling out to her, Olivia was halfway into the truck by the time the others made it over to them. "How is he?" Casey asked Olivia. "His leg is pinned but apart from that he seems alright." Olivia told her Captain. "Just sit tight and we'll get you out." Casey told them both. "Does it hurt anywhere?" Olivia asked her husband. "My ribs are a little sore and I smashed my head against the window but I'm alright." He told her, trying to reassure his wife. "Okay, I'm gonna take a look at your leg." She said, carefully moving to look at how his leg was pinned. "Your leg doesn't hurt?" She asked him. "A little but not a lot." "I don't think it's broken by the way it's pinned but there is a cut." Olivia stated as she assessed the situation. "Casey, I just need a pedal cutter then he's free." Olivia called out. "Copy that, we're just stabilizing the truck first." Casey told them. "Do you think you'll be able to crawl out?" Olivia asked her husband. He nodded. "Here." Casey appeared kneeling down next to the car with the pedal cutter. Olivia shifted to reach for it. "I think we can just smash the windscreen out and crawl out." She told Casey. "Go for it." He nodded. "I'm just gonna snap the pedal then you should be able to slide your leg out." Olivia told Antonio as she put the pedal cutter into place. She pressed the button on it and it snapped the pedal out of the way, freeing Antonio's leg. Olivia handed the pedal cutter back to Casey before she laid down on her back, ready to kick the windscreen out. "Cover your eyes." She told her husband as she slipped her safety glasses out of her pocket and put them on. She shifted a little before she started kicking the windscreen. It only took 4 kicks before it popped out of place. Casey and the others dragged it out of the way and placed a blanket over the smashed glass before Olivia and Antonio climbed out. "Careful." Gallo helped Olivia up off the floor as Casey and Mouch helped Antonio. He limped slightly as they stepped away from the truck. Olivia turned and instantly gave her husband a hug. "Ow." "Sorry." She released him from the hug but kept her arm around him for support as they started walking over the ambulance. He sat down on the back step of the ambulance so Heidi could check him out whilst Chase was off helping one of the other victims. "I agree with Liv, leg's definitely not broken, just bruised and there's a decent laceration. Your ribs may be broken and you whacked your head pretty good. You'll definitely need to get checked out at med." Heidi told Antonio as she finished bandaging his leg. He pulled a face. "You're going." Olivia said sternly.
A little while later at Chicago Med, Antonio had been checked over by Will and they were waiting on some test results. Will had sent Antonio for some x-rays and a CT scan to check out his ribs and his head injury. Whilst they waited for the results, a nurse had come in to clean up and suture the cuts on Antonio's leg and head. Olivia and Antonio were now sitting alone in his cubicle, talking, as they waited for the scan and x-ray results. "So I guess this means I won't be getting a new car anytime soon." Olivia pouted. "Well, possibly. When I spoke to Voight earlier he mentioned something about the department replacing my vehicle as it's used on duty." Antonio shrugged. He had briefly spoken to Voight earlier after he had stopped by to check on Antonio after he had heard what had happened. "Ooo..." "So yes, maybe you'll get the 4x4 you've secretly been looking at for weeks." He told his wife. "How did you-" "I'm a cop." He reminded her. "Plus you left the car page open on your laptop the other day." He added, making her laugh. Liv noticed Will walking back towards them. "So what's the situation doc?" Olivia asked Will as he walked back into the cubicle. "X-rays are back and they show no broken ribs or ankle. CT scan also confirmed this and no trauma to the brain." "Oh thank god." "So just badly bruised ribs paired with a concussion." Will declared. "We'll give you some pain meds. Normally with a concussion we'd like to keep you in for observations but I'm happy to discharge you as Liv will be with you." Will stated as he tapped a few notes into Antonio's chart. He knew Liv would use her medical training to keep an eye on Antonio from the comfort of their own home. "That's perfect. Boden gave me the rest of the shift off anyways." Liv said, relieved. As they didn't have that long of shift left, Boden had obviously told Olivia to go to the hospital with her husband and stay with him.
Later that evening, the couple were sitting cuddling on the couch watching a film. The doorbell went. "Oo, pizza's here!" Olivia said happily as she quickly got up and went to answer the door. After paying and giving the guy a tip, she went to grab them both another drink from the kitchen. She carefully carried the drinks and pizzas back onto the front room. "Here." She handed him the pizzas. "Take these." She added, handed him two tablets followed by his drink. "I'm fine." Antonio tried to hand them back. "Trust me, if you want to sleep tonight and be able to move, take 'em." Olivia told her husband sternly as she sat back down next to him. She knew what it was like to have bruised ribs and they hurt just as badly as broken ones. "So I spoke to Travis today. He's 100% coming to Chicago for a couple of days in a few weeks. His furlough days got approved." Olivia said happily as the both tucked into their pizzas. "That's good." "I'm going to speak to Casey and Boden and see if he can ride along on Truck for a shift whilst he's here. A, so he can see me in action and B, so we can actually spend some time together as I'll be on shift." Olivia added. "That'll be fun." "You know I was looking and if you want to get a new car we can totally afford one." Antonio told his wife. "Really?" She practically squealed. "Uh-huh." He smiled. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Liv said excitedly as she carefully leaned over and kissed him.
