They walked together, their pace slow, their vision clear, both had forgiven each other for their mistakes, however small it might look to somebody.
Gradually, Ranvijay shifted beside her, hands on his side, walking parallel to her, slowly he slipped his hand in hers, and tightened it, she looked at him, eyes wide with surprise, eyes filled with joy. She smiled at him and held his hand back.
They had kissed before, shared the same breathe at a time, but when they held hands, it was more intimate then that kiss could ever be.
She shifted closer to her husband, held his forearm with her other hand, and leaned on his arm. They walked back hand in hand, forgetting everything that had happened in the last 24 hours, why would they want to remember such a horrible night?
The Shadow
The warmth of his hand, seeped through mine, in that instance, I felt like I had found home, not a house with four walls, but his hand, it had become my heavenly abode.
I wanted to stay like this, in this lively dream, where I had a husband who treated me as his wife, hand in hand, at this moment if he asked me to go and conquer the world with him, I would, I would fight beside him, for him, always.
When we reached our room, he closed the doors, I went to the bathing chambers to freshen up, the tears were dry on my face and my body felt icky, after yesterday.
I took the quickest bath, I couldn't wait to sleep beside my husband snuggled into his chest, that was one liberty I would never pass on to. I wore a night dress even though it was morning and he was the king and he was supposed to do so much work.
I speed walked my way into the bedroom and saw him sitting on a chair near the window, his face looked sad, his eyes staring at nothing, his hands tightened into fists.
His eyes glided towards me when he heard me, his face softened, he motioned me to come closer. I walked towards him softly, my anklets bells chiming, he took one of my hand and snaked the other on my waist, his slight touch sending shivers to my body.
He hugged me, while sitting down, the side of his face on my belly, holding my tightly, his hands clasped on my back. His breathe fanned over my stomach making me giggle, "Hm?" he asked in question, "Your breathe, its tickling me" I told him, as I placed my hand in his lustrous locks, they were as soft as one would imagine them to be.
"You should sleep your highness" I said to him, his eyes found mine on the mention of the formal calling, "Your highness? Since when do you call me that" he asked, letting go of me, the heat he was providing long gone displaced by shivering cold, "Well, it gets your attention" I smiled at him.
Deep down I was still upset, not with him, but with my behaviour, it wouldn't be right to put all the blame on his head, this man lost his wife again after 13 years of grieving in silence, his rage seeped through the cracks that had long widened in the darkness of his thoughts.
"I must apologise" I told him, sitting on my knees in front of him, the first time I had ever done it, getting on my knees for a man, "For what?" he asked, placing his hands on my shoulder, I feathered his knuckles with my fingertips, "For everything. I should not have...said what I did, you are my husband. And shall always be, and I do not expect you to love me—" I started.
"Ada, you must not—" he tried to interrupt.
"No, let me...let me finish." I told him, his palms now on my face, his thumb softly touching my cheek.
"I do not expect you to love me. I do not wish to be in a loved marriage, your highness. I understand, I truly do. She was the love of your life, she was the light to your darkness, you have always loved her, deeply from within, and someone like me can only wish to be loved the same way. I understand, she was the woman of your dreams, the woman who you truly—" he stopped me, his fingers on my mouth.
His mouth agape from surprise, "That's the thing you do not understand my queen" he said, acknowledging me as his half.
"You do not understand that she...she was"
"But you are Ada"
"The woman whom I love"
"If you are the shadow, then I am the light, none can exist without the other, none...shall survive"
"I cannot survive without you, my Shadow"
He placed his forehead over mine, his lips inches apart from me, both of our breathing ragged, his hands on the side of my face, squeezing my cheeks together.
In that moment, nothing mattered, no man, no woman, no war could make me care about anything but this man in front of me, his dark orbs burning the browns of mine, his fingers imprinting a nonsense pattern on my face. Leaving a longing for his touch whenever he would drag his fingers, the heat between our lips melting the barriers of my heart.
"I did love her, once. She was my past Ada, will always be. But you, you darling is my present, and I would do everything to keep you in it, to keep you with me." He confessed.
"I love you Ada Ranvijay Singh"
"I love you so much, it fucking hurts." He whispered, his breathe fanning on my ear, making me close my eyes and engulf the moment whole.
"Say it again" I whispered not believeing my sense of hearing, "I love you" he said again louder.
I took in a deep breathe and took one of his hand, "Again" I whispered, the notion of love, still fresh to the rotted heart of mine, "I love you" he shouted, his words leaving me in an awe to this new feeling that I had long forgotten.
"I love you too" I whispered, "Louder, Little killer, so loud the whole kingdom hears it" he took my chin in his hands.
"I love you Ranvijay Singh" I shouted on the top of my lungs, my arms spread wide, I took the name of my husband, breaking yet another rule, some habits die hard.
I stood up from my position, and held my hand out, "What?" he asked cocking an eyebrow.
"I want to hug you" I said simply, he smiled and got up and hugged me, his arms embracing me, my body melting into his my head on his shoulder, arms wrapped around his broad back.
His embrace made me feel like I belonged, that I deserved, his attention, his love. Love, such an unusual feeling, I had never fully witnessed its various faces, safe to say I have never been in love, properly. Men are...liars, most of them, and lies are what I cannot fathom, liars are never forgiven.
I hugged him, tighter, letting all the air in between our bodies escape, I wanted him closer, so close, that there was not even an inch of space left in between him and me.
"Closer" I whisper in his ear, "Closer than this would be impossible my love" he laughed, but then realisation dawned on him, "Closer?" he whispered back in question, and I simply nodded, with a smile.
"Closer" I said as I placed my lips over his, my hands tightening on his hair, his hands dragging from waist to my buttocks.
He pushed me up and took me in his arms, my feet wrapping around him in an instant, as if they knew exactly what to do.
Our lips moving in unison, having a mind of their own, the love that was between us, was slowly taking a new form.
Of lust.
