Two weeks later...

I'm laying in bed with a book in my lap and my headphones in my ears.
I hear tapping on my window and jump at the sound.

I quietly get up out of my bed and walk over to my window. I peak through the curtain and see JJ standing there.

I push the window open and speak, "what are you doing here?"

He climbs through the window, then when he is standing in front of me he mumbles a hi and leans in and kisses me.

When we pull away, I say hi but then I notice the bruises covering his face.

"Oh my god, JJ! What happened?" I ask him as I cup his cheeks, "did you go to your dads?"

He shakes his head, "no..."

"Then where were you?" I ask.

He doesn't answer. He looks down and avoids eye contact.

"Oh my god..."

He fought Rafe...

I let go of his cheeks and step away from him.

"Emery-"

"You promised me! You promised me that you wouldn't fight him, JJ!" I shout at him.

"I'm sorry, Emery."

"I can't believe you, JJ." I shake my head, "you made a promise to me then you went and broke it without a problem."

"I wasn't planning to do it. I was working and Rafe was there and I heard him saying stuff about you and I just couldn't stop myself!"

"That is bullshit, Jay. You should have thought about it before you went and fought Rafe."

"Please, Junie-"

"Get out." I say quietly.

"Please just listen to me, Emery." He pleads but I ignore him.

"You promised me, JJ. You know what promises mean to me but you still went and broke it." I tell him.

JJ goes to say something but he stops when the light in the hallway turns on.

He gives me a look that says he's sorry then he climbs back out of the window.

I quickly jump into my bed right as Ward opens the door.

"Are you okay?" He asks me, "I heard yelling."

I nod, "yeah, sorry, it's just a show." I tell him then hold my phone up.

"Okay... goodnight, Emery."

"Night," I tell him before he closes the door.
