There was a brief moment of silence held for Peter.

An) Done. And somehow, he actually does become better than Peter. It's never explained why. Just that he can balance his life better. And all the good things he does for Peter get retconned when Peter gets his body back so they can keep the status quo. And not at all because the writers aren't creative and hate Peter and actual character growth.
