For the next few days I'm alone in the cabin, However, luckily I haven't fallen back into the void yet, and I'm able to get some decent sleep, although the memory of the void continues to haunt me.
Almost a week passed again when Nicolas came back forcing me to practice hand to hand fight, now It's not that I can't hit people — I can but, he says I need to learn how to fight properly.
We go at it with each other, punching and kicking, dodging and countering, but no matter how hard I try, he always manages to pin me easily.
"This is not fair," I grumbled as he had me pinned down on the grass
"Life's not fair, my sweet little witch" he says, straddling me, his hands pinning my wrists above me. "Now push me off, without magic"
I huff, frustration building up inside me as I struggle to break free from his grip, but it's no use. I'm no match for him without magic. I try to kick him off but he easily grabs my leg, using it to pull me closer to him. "This is absurd," I muttered, feeling helpless as he looked down at me.
"You need to learn. Stop relying on your magic so much. What happens if someone takes it away from you? Or if you're in a situation where you can't use it? Then what?" he lectures, holding me down firmly. As much as I hate it, I know he's right.
"Now, how do we fix this?" he asks, his grip on me remaining firm. I feel a spark of defiance rise in me again, unwilling to give in, even though I know I’m utterly helpless in his grip.
"Get off me, you giant brute," I bite out, trying to sound irritated even though my frustration is starting to turn into something else.
"Yeah keep whining and bitching like that in front of a real enemy and you'll be dead in a second" he rolls his eyes "You're not even trying"
My anger flares, I try again to wriggle free, but his grip is too strong.
"I am trying," I snarl, "but it's hard when you're twice my size and twice as heavy as me"
"Excuses excuses" he taunts, his grip tightening. I huff, feeling annoyance and helplessness, my mind racing for a solution. He's right — I can't just lay here, pinned down and defeated.
I take a deep breath, steadying myself. I gather my strength and with a sudden burst, I twist my hips and throw my entire body weight to the side, managing to catch him off guard and flipping our positions. Now I'm on top of him.
"Now that's more like it," he smirks, his hands going to my hips.
"You probably let me do it on purpose." I sighed
"Probably. But at this point I don't mind you on top of me," he taunts
My cheeks flush red at his words, caught off guard by his flirtatious tone. But I shake the feeling off and place my hands on his chest, pinning him down. He's clearly not trying very hard to get out of this position.
"Not bad, sweet witch," he purrs, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips as he looks up at me. But just as I'm starting to enjoy the feeling of having control, he takes the opportunity to flip me over again, pinning me to the grass once more.
"But you need to learn to keep up the pressure," he says with a devilish grin, his body pressing down on mine. "Can't let your opponent get the upper hand, ever."
Despite my annoyance, his words and breath right on my ear send a shiver down my spine, making it hard to focus on anything except the physical contact.
"Is this how you always fight your opponents?" I ask, trying to sound irritated but my voice betrays me, wavering slightly as if I have a hard time staying concentrated as his body pressed over me.
