"Surprise," came a voice from behind the bouquet of roses. His voice, so familiar and beloved, resonated deep within the fibers of my heart. Like a spell, the sound of his voice brought a feeling of joy and relief that flowed through my entire being. I couldn't suppress the smile that immediately spread across my lips, even before I had seen him.
"B-Bill!!!" I exclaimed, my voice filled with genuine joy and wonder. He handed the bouquet of roses to Jacob, who stood beside him, and I hurried towards him, my heart pounding with excitement. As soon as I reached him, my arms flew around his neck, and I pulled him tightly against me. His embrace felt like home, a safe haven amidst the storm.
His warm body pressed against mine, and I could feel the strength of his love like a gentle breeze caressing my soul. "Elise," he whispered softly, his voice laced with tenderness and love. The sound of it was like music to my ears, a melody of hope and redemption.
Time seemed to stand still as we stood there, entwined in each other's arms, our hearts merging into one. Everything around us seemed to fade away except for his presence, so reassuring and familiar. In his arms, I felt complete, safe, and loved, as if I had finally come home after a long journey.
After a while, I let go of him and looked at him, my eyes full of love and gratitude. "Is it really you?" I asked, still incredulous that he was here, with me, at this moment. He smiled softly and tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear. "Yes, dear Elise, I'm here," he replied, his voice soft as a summer breeze. His words filled my heart with joy and warmth, and I could only smile as I looked up at him.
He brought his hand to my cheek and gently stroked it, his touch like a balm for my soul. "Elise, how are you now?" he asked concernedly, his eyes full of love and care. I suddenly felt a bit dizzy from the emotions rushing through me, but his strong hand supported me and kept me steady.
"Come, back to bed with you," he said with a smile, guiding me back to my bed where I obediently lay down again. I kept looking at him, my heart filled with love and wonder. "Bill, what are you doing here?" I asked him, my voice a mixture of surprise and gratitude.
He smiled and gave me a tender kiss on my forehead. "Do you really think I would leave you alone?" he whispered, his voice filled with love and devotion. "I came straight here when Tom told me what happened."
"Hey, Bill," greeted Bas, his gaze full of understanding. He also nodded to Jacob, who was still standing at the door. "I'll leave you two alone," Bas said with a slight smile. I tried to stop him, but he assured me that he had a short meeting with Paul at the studio. I nodded understandingly.
Bill met Bas' gaze and spoke with a lump in his throat. "Bas, thank you for being there for Elise when I couldn't." Bas stepped up to Bill and placed his hand on his shoulder. "She's my best friend, I'll always be there for her," Bas replied with a warm smile. His words touched me deeply, and I smiled gratefully while Bill nodded in agreement.
"Uh, guys," came a voice from behind the bouquet of roses that Jacob was still holding. "What should I do with these flowers?" he asked with slight confusion.
"Oh, wait," I said, my eyes on the bouquet of roses. I wanted to get out of bed, but Bill stopped me with a reassuring look. "You stay put," he said calmly. "In the cupboard there," and I pointed to the cupboard directly in front of me, "there's a vase. You can put those beautiful roses in it." I sank back into bed and watched as Bill retrieved the vase from the cupboard, filled it with water, and carefully arranged the roses in it. It was a loving gesture, and my heart swelled with gratitude for his care. I looked in admiration at the roses he had placed on my nightstand.
"Thank you, Bill, they're beautiful," I said softly, my voice full of emotion. I looked at him, and my heart overflowed with love and gratitude for this special man standing before me. He looked back at me, his eyes full of love and tenderness, and I felt lost in the depth of his gaze.
Bill's voice was soft but determined as he revealed the next surprise. "And my next gift is Jacob," he said, his gaze full of devotion directed at me.
His words surprised me, and I looked at him with wide eyes, filled with astonishment. "Jacob? For me?" I asked, still not fully grasping what was happening. Bill nodded resolutely. "Yes, Jacob is one of our best security personnel, but I trust him completely to protect you," he explained, his voice full of conviction and determination.
"But Bill, you can't afford to lose Jacob," I protested weakly, aware of the crucial role Jacob played in the band's security. Wasn't this all a bit much? I didn't really need a security guard, did I? But what if David was waiting for me at my apartment or the studio? I was lucky not to have been hurt this time. But would David hold back next time? A cold shiver ran down my spine as I thought about it. However, Bill shook his head firmly. "No, Elise, my decision is final. Jacob stays with you, and I won't hear any arguments," he said resolutely, his voice filled with determination and authority.
I nodded slowly, my heart filled with gratitude for Bill's concern for my safety. "Okay," I finally agreed. "A bit of protection can't hurt." I knew I would at least have a bit more peace of mind with Jacob by my side.
Jacob, who had been silent until then, stepped forward and gave me a reassuring smile. "I will do everything I can to keep you safe, Ma'am," he said with determination in his voice.
I smiled back, touched by his dedication. "Just call me Elise," I said kindly, my voice filled with warmth and appreciation for his willingness to take on this task.
"Okay, Elise," Jacob replied with a wink, making me smile involuntarily. "I'll go get some coffee. That will give you two a moment alone." With those words, he turned and left the room, leaving me alone with Bill.
I looked at Bill, my heart overflowing with love and gratitude for his care and protection. "Thank you, Bill," I said softly, my voice filled with emotion. "It means a lot to me that you're doing this for me."
Bill smiled, his eyes shining with affection. "You don't need to thank me, Elise," he replied lovingly. "I just want you to be safe, always." He came closer and took my hand in his.
