Although Jude and Naya had never discussed how they'd behave towards one another in public settings, it went without saying that as far as the outside world knew and would continue to know, they were nothing more than two athletes who were cordial with each other.
"Hi," Naya smiled as Jude engulfed her in a friendly hug, as if the last time they were together he didn't force three orgasms out of her back to back.
Jude returned the smile, his eyes giving nothing away as he pulled back from the hug. "Hey, good to see you," he replied casually, his tone betraying no hint of their intimate encounter just a few days prior.
As they chatted about their upcoming games and training schedules, both Jude and Naya were keenly aware of the unspoken agreement between them. They had to maintain a facade, despite the undeniable chemistry that crackled between them whenever they were alone.
It was a delicate dance they perfected without much practice at all, a balancing act of keeping their personal relationship hidden while still enjoying the stolen moments of passion they shared behind closed doors.
After a brief greeting, they went their separate ways in the room. Naya was pulled into conversations about tennis and the upcoming Wimbledon tournament, while Jude was congratulated about winning the Champions League and his upcoming stint with his national team.
But amidst the small talk and surface-level interactions, their eyes would often meet, silently communicating a depth of connection that went far beyond what they currently portrayed.
There were over seventy-five people in the room. Naya couldn't help but notice the leggy blonde girl who seemed to follow Jude from corner to corner. She currently stood hanging on every word he said as he addressed a group of around six people.
Naya felt a pang of jealousy as she observed the blonde girl laughing at Jude's jokes, her hand casually resting on his arm. She quickly shook off the feeling, reminding herself of their arrangement and the reasons behind it. Still, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of possessiveness towards Jude.
Meanwhile, Jude was acutely aware of Naya's gaze on him, even though she was engaged in conversation with a group of people across the room. He found himself stealing glances in her direction whenever he could, feeling a surge of longing for the intimacy they shared in private.
As the night wore on, they found themselves drawn back to each other, their eyes meeting as Jude walked towards the bar she currently sat at. And in that moment, surrounded by a room full of people, they both knew that their connection was undeniable, no matter how hard they tried to hide it.
"I haven't done anything wrong," Jude laughed as he playfully held up his hands in innocence.
"I didn't say you did," Naya smirked as she stood up from her seat, despite the heels she wore he still dwarfed her in height. "You're a single man."
