Jobe and Jude were so similar in their ways that it was laughable. Naya sat across from the 18-year-old listening in amusement as he gave his opinion on her place in his brother's life.
"You're the best girl my brother has brought around by far." He said making Naya fall out laughing.
"Thank you, but we're not together," Naya said as she took a sip of her drink. "We're just friends," she added with a smile.
Naya appreciated the compliment, but she had to be honest with Jobe and herself.
"Just friends." He repeated with a scoff as he put a ketchup covered French fry into his mouth.
"I'll willing to accept friends with benefits, but you're insulting my intelligence if you I think you and Jude are just friends." Jobe said teasingly, although he meant every word he said.
Naya raised an eyebrow at Jobe's bold statement, trying to hide the fact that his words had caught her off guard.
"I hope I'm not offending you, I just wanted to say that I see how much you mean to Jude. He talks about you all the time, and I can tell that being around you makes him happy," Jobe continued, his tone sincere despite his playful demeanor.
Naya felt a warmth spread through her at Jobe's words. She never realized the depth of Jude's feelings for her, and hearing it from his brother made her heart flutter.
"I appreciate that, Jobe. Jude means a lot to me too," she replied, a soft smile tugging at her lips.
Jobe nodded, a knowing look in his eyes. "I can see that. You came all the way to Germany."
Naya wasn't expecting Jobe to tell her what he and his older brother spoke about, but hearing what he had to say gave Naya a sense of gratification she wasn't anticipating.
It brought her comfort knowing that Jude spoke highly of her to his brother, and it made her realize just how much she cared for him too.
Jobe's words lingered in her mind as she looked at him, grateful for his insight into Jude's feelings. She knew that whatever happened next between her and Jude, she would cherish this moment of understanding and connection with his brother.
"If we don't leave now, I feel like we'll get caught up in traffic before the game," Jobe said pulling up his sleeve to check the time on his wrist watch.
In a few short hours they were set to watch Jude and the rest of England's squad take on Serbia in their first game of the Euros 2024 tournament.
Naya nodded, realizing that it was time to head to the stadium. She appreciated the conversation with Jobe and the insights he shared with her. As they left the restaurant and made their way to the game, Naya couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation and excitement building within her.
Watching Jude play on such a big stage was always a thrilling experience, as a professional tennis player she completely understood the sense of euphoria present when playing the game she loved.
