I wish I didn't know my mom's loving embrace,
For I miss it every single day.
I wish I never knew the weight of thank yous,
For I wouldn't have waited years for your appreciation to convey.

I wish I didn't know inequality's face,
For I miss thinking all are equal in every way.
I wish I never knew the taste of knowledge,
For I wouldn't have crossed oceans chasing dreams, so far away.

I wish I didn't know society's beauty standards,
For I wouldn't have hated myself, hidden in shadows.
I wish I never knew what an apology felt like,
For I wouldn't have buried the mirrors you broke, amidst my woes.

I wish I didn't know your pain,
For I wouldn't have forgiven you despite the hurt, it seems.
I wish I never knew the comfort of a friend,
For I wouldn't feel such loneliness now that you've gone, leaving only dreams.

I wish I didn't know what first love felt like,
For I wouldn't have felt so betrayed.
I wish I never knew being a second choice felt like ,
For I wouldn't have wasted my time, so frayed.

I wish I didn't know the feeling of falling in love again,
For I wouldn't have waited, hoping you'd be more than a friend.
I wish I didn't know adulthood's weight,
For I miss exploring the world without worries, feeling great.

I wish I never knew happiness's light,
For I wouldn't miss it if it never graced my sight.
