Raiden pulled the chair closer to me and sat down.
"Alright so. How are you feeling? are you in pain?" His softer-looking grey-blue eyes scanned me. Raiden looked like his human self. Artificial skin and everything. The lines from his lips up to his head were visible on his skin.
'Oh right, that mission.' It slowly began to sink in. Why was he asking me if I was okay? Something tells me he knew something that I didn't.
"Why are you..asking me if I'm alright?" Raidne's eyes widen a bit. He sighed. "I feel like it's nice to ask someone who has been in the hospital for a week."
"Ah week!?" I shout. Raiden's ears burned at my voice. He flinched. '____ must not know...' He sighed. "Yes, a week. Since we returned from the mission."
"W-well can I go home? This place looks boring."
Raiden furrowed his eyebrows. What they did to ____ and fixed them up seemed to be working.
"Listen _____." Raiden put his hand on mine. "We can go back to home. My home if you like. That is if you are ready and feel alright."
"I feel okay. Maybe sore?"
Raiden knew it was because of the pain medicine they were keeping me on. He reached over to the side and grabbed a hand mirror. "Well if you're ready. I promise we can go back."
"Was the mission successful..?"
He nods his head."Yes, thanks to you. Otacon is pleased." I looked at the mirror in Raiden's hand.
"Okay here. Just look into this. It will explain everything..." He slowly handed me the mirror.
I was lost
for words.
I couldn't drop the mirror
or put it down.
Raiden watched closely, worried I would have a panic attack.
"T-this is me..?" I asked.
"Yes." He replied.
My eyes were a bit bloodshot as if I had some head/ face trauma. So a possible blood vessel popped at some point. It looked like it was healing though. I had some colourful bruising across my face and under my eyes.
The most shocking. When I spoke. I got a better look at my jaw. It had that similar line that Raiden had. Fake skin looking. I couldn't feel it, but it looked different. "Is this..? W-what happened to me Raiden?"
I set the mirror down on my lap. Everything began to sink in painfully, one memory after another.
"I'm sorry. You were injured pretty badly. Landmines went off. Separating us. I found you lying on the ground far off from where we got hit. Lying in your pool of blood. When I rolled you over. I saw that your jaw was smashed open, and broken. I called for a rescue helicopter and it flew us over to the hospital." Raiden breathed.
"I knew we had to do something to fix that. So I asked the doctor to make you a new jaw and patch up your face a little. He and I mapped out what we would do. I swore I wouldn't leave your side till the surgery was done. I knew you were in good hands, and you had a very high chance of living."
Flashes of blood dripped onto my lap and Raiden's body came into my mind. The memories of when I was held up by him when my jaw was smashed up.
"Thank you, Raiden..for saving me."
"No problem. Though,, I have to warn you if you go home. The pain might return for a while. I will have medicine to give you until it will heal up better. You have some hella bruising still."
I nod my head." I understand. Teach me how to live with a metal jaw."
"Heh, you got it. It's not bad once you get used to it. Your body is in shock still also it will take time to feel normal."
" Right."
Raiden hands me my clothes and a pair of blackout shades. Wear these glasses. You will get stared at less. Also, the sun might hurt a bit still from the damage you got. I will go prepare things so we can leave.
Raiden stood up with a light smile and walked to the door. When he opened the door Wolf came in. "Oh yeah looks like someone wants to see you." He laughed.
"Wolf..!" I look surprised to see him walk inside.
