Raiden placed a couple of different plates of food down. Unsure about what exactly I could have wanted to eat. He knew that the taste of food might be different or not exciting for a little while during this body mod.
"Here I tried my best to make it easier on you." He slid me a spoon, fork and knife. Setting down a tall glass for me he asked a question. "Which drink would you like?" There was tea, coffee, sweet coffee, latte, and juice.
I pointed at my favourite. He nodded his head and poured it into the cup. Raiden took his seat across the table.
It was the first time in ages since we had a quiet meal at a proper table. Lightning flashed outside more.
I reached out to my spoon. I wanted to try some of the fried rice mix he had made. It looked soft.
Raiden began to eat his food and watched me from the corner of his eye. I lifted the delicious-looking food. I tried opening my mouth up wider than usual. I felt something tug at my mouth from the inside. Making me stop and feel a strange pain.
⚡( Small Author Note)( I had wisdom teeth surgery way back in 2020. I had a lot of stitches in my mouth for weeks, It caused problems for me to eat. I thought using a bit of that experience would help to describe this chapter. Anyways back to the book!)
The spoon with food still hovered in the air. 'Nope...' I thought. I couldn't do that, it was tolerable so I decided to close my mouth a little so I didn't feel that.
Raiden could see something was up, from the look on my face and in my eyes. He took a bite of his food and chewed on it quietly. Watching, still in case I choked on food, then he could help.
I tried a different approach. I put the spoon to my lip and tried jamming the food in slowly. Without biting down on the spoon, I knew that would hurt. A couple of peas and grains of rice dropped to the table.
Slowly I closed my mouth down. Trying to somehow chew.
I suddenly dropped the metal spoon out of my hand. *Cling!* It hit the table and bounced, landing on the ground. My eyes shot open in perfect unison with Raiden.
Raiden looked at me shocked and concerned. Was I okay???
'Oh no.' He thought the look on my face said something hurt a lot.
Trying to swallow the food and not drop it out of my mouth. Tears weld up in my face. I let out a shout of pain. "AAArgh..!" I hissed. My hands touched the side of my face, while I swayed my head.
"Are you alright..?!" He stood up slowly. Concerned, by my reaction.
"AAAck..!" I shout, slowly as the worst part of the pain slowly vanishes. I gasped and slammed my hands on the table.
Raiden slowly reached down and grabbed the spoon off the table. "Are you okay?" He flinched a little.
"T-that hurt...sooo bad..."
".....stitches...yeah...and hypersensitivity is common, and a pain in the ass." He sighed. "Everyone acts differently though, it doesn't hurt the same for all."
"Here just try to eat the soup. Then you won't need to move your mouth almost at all."
"Ha..okay..sorry..." I apologize for making a little mess."
Slowly I drank the soup trying to put something into my stomach. It stung a little but not nearly as bad. When I finished the bowl I looked at Raiden.
He couldn't help but smile a little. Trying to be considerate, he lifted a napkin to me. I thanked him and placed it to my mouth. I pulled it away and was a little surprised to see drops of red.
"You probably irritated the stitches. It will go away eventually just will take time."
I was bleeding again from the mouth. This was a little embarrassing. With a loud crash of thunder, the room went pitch black.
"Oh aha. I'll get some candles you just stay here." Using his better cyborg night vision he maneuvered through the room.
I sat there in the pitch darkness. The flashes of lightning lit up the room sometimes. The thunder was getting louder.
I could hear the sound of metal clinging in the dark. "Raiden?" I asked.
"Whoops sorry." I heard him in the distance. " I walked into the stairs."
I shake my head." How is that possible? You are a cyborg."
"Aha yes but I don't have all the metal body war parts. Such as my face shield. Its a very strong night vision." I heard him laugh in the distance.
