Birthday

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA"

Hae-min grinned at her grandfather. "Ah my beautiful granddaughter! Thank you so much for the suit" He smiled. She smiled back and went to her seat beside Hae-in.

Hae-min hardly listened to Soo-cheol's speech. He ran it by her 8 different times on three separate occasions and she could recite it word from word.

Hae-min: Suno where are you????

Her text whooshed hinting that it sent as she stood up and clapped for Soo-Cheol and her grandfather. This was about the fourth text she had sent the man since she left home.

A mascot thing came in making the Hong twins jaws drop. "Hae-min what the hell is that?!" Hae-in asked. "Hell if i know he didn't tell me about this".

The two looked back at the mascot in horror. "Maybe we should have Soo-cheol medicated if that's how we see grandpa" Hae-min mumbled in shock.

Soo-cheol shot her a thumbs up but she remained just as shocked. She seen his eyes fall to Da-Hye's seat which made her frown and look over at Suno's. It was unlike him to miss a important family event. He was typically the first one dressed.

She pulled out her phone to see no text messages in reply from him. She frowned and stuffed her phone back in her purse.

Hae-min excused herself when she seen Soo-cheol leave in a hurry. She found him fumbling around off his bike. "Soo-cheol?" she questioned. "Da-hye she's gone. Geon-u too" he cried.

"Oh baby brother" she came to hug him. He cried rentlessly on her shoulder soaking the fabric of her favorite dress. This reminded her of when Soo-Cheol was a child. He was a bit sensitive as a kid so he took every mean thing to heart.

When he came home as a young boy he'd sit on his older sisters bed and wait for her to come home. She'd wrap her arms around him and let him cry. Now it felt odd knowing her baby brother was much older and his problems are now bigger than what a bully said or did.

Her phone rang with a call but she ignored it. "My son...He won't be able to sleep without his father".

"Maybe this is a misunderstanding. We'll call Da-Hye in the morning" she rubbed his back. "Please hae-min...don't leave me" he sobbed. "I'm not gonna leave you Soo-cheol, i'll be right here". Truthfully the gravel was hurting her legs and knees but she didn't say anything.

She sat in the road holding her brother who sobbed on his shoulder. she hadn't felt her phone constantly buzzing in her purse over soo-cheol's noisy sobbing and shaking body. She stood soo-cheol up and walked him home.

"Lay down for a while Soo-cheol while i clean up" she said. The man nodded and laid limply in his bed. Hae-min began sweeping and picking up fallin clothes from the ground.

She even went to the kitchen and made Soo-cheol food though he didn't seem like he would want it. She was tired herself so she decided to just make ramen. She gave soo-cheol extra egg as he liked it.

"Soo-Cheol! come here!" she called out. but he didn't reply. She sighed and carried the two steaming bowls in her arms. He laid staring blankly at the ceiling. "i made us food" she said and sat on the bed. "i don't want it".

"Soo-cheol" she glared at him. He sighed and took the bowl from her. She grabbed a remote and cut on tv. The two siblings sat in silence eating noodles and watching a kdrama.

"Wait so he is dead?" Soo-Cheol asked. "No she's just a time traveler" she explained. "Okay but he dies right?" Soo-cheol asked. "No they are two different people with the same face".

Soo-cheol stared at her with a confused look. She sighed "Aish! you never listen to me" she shook her head. "Hae-min, i'm sorry" he said looking at her. "Huh?" she asked. "All the things i said about you over the years and you're still here for me" he confessed.

"You're my baby brother Soo-Cheol. I'll always be here for you" she nudged his shoulder with a smile. For just a moment Soo-Cheol didn't feel as tho a sink hole was being made in his chest.

"What do you mean we aren't allowed in his room? don't you know who i am?" Beom-ju shouted. Hae-min held onto Aunt Beom-ja as she cried. The woman stood up to defend her brother while Hae-min looked over at Hyun-woo.

He was staring at her with something she's never seen before from the man. Seul-hee came out. "You had something to do with this you evil cunt" Hae-min stood up.

"Oh Hae-min...you were so sweet but i see you're showing your true colors" the woman spoke softly. "Suel-hee seriously don't fuck with me right now let us see grandfather" The woman said. She felt someone touch her shoulder.

Soo-Cheol pulled her toward the back. "Chairman Hong had a heart attack" was all Hae-min heard before she began swaying on her feet. Her back touched the cold wall as she leaned on it.

She breathed in slow as the conversation tuned back in. "You want to take over the company with your sons Yoon Eun-Sung and Choi Suno!" Beom-ja shouted. "What?" Hae-min looked over. The family turned to face Hae-min.

"Ceo Yoon Eun-Sung? Hae-min's husband Choi Suno? Are...Brothers?". "That's right. We ran a test to confirm it." He turned toward hae-min. Tears bubbled in her eyes as her body shook.

Now that she had really thought about it Suno and Eun-Sung did seem weird. "That fucker" she mumbled under her breath. "Hae-min-" Hae-in started.

The woman began laughing though there were no humor behind it. Dry laughs heaving out of her body as she walked away. To anyone looking she looked insane.

Her swaying figure, tears steaming down her face as she laughed. She couldn't understand why she was laughing. Perhaps it was her body's way of showing how confused it is. The cold wind blew against her face as she stood outside.
