The boy in the tree

YOUNG HAE-MIN SAT ON THE SOFT PLUSH GRASS.

She waited for her siblings to come out and play with her. Hae-min didn't have a clue how long she had actually been sitting there but she replayed her ipod and waited. "Hey how long are you gonna sit there?" a voice called.

She looked around before looking up. A boy who looked maybe about a year older than her was sat in the tree. "What? Why?" she asked. "I come up here to stare at the grass not you".

She frowned "You're rude". "Really? Thanks for the insight" he leaned on the tree branch looking up at the leaves. He felt something hit his arm hard.

He looked over at the girl that was now standing holding another rock in her hand. "did you just throw a rock at me?" he raised his brows. "Yes." she prepared to throw the other.

"Don't throw that rock at me" he put his hands up in his defense. "Why not?" she asked, hand holding the rock tighter. "If you do i won't play with you". She scoffed "You're a weirdo" she tossed the rock onto the ground and walked off.

"I'm the weirdo? she's wearing a sweater in summer at the park" he said to himself before climbing down. He jogged to catch up with her. "Are you an only child?" he asked. "Oh great the weirdos back" she rolled her eyes.

"for your information i'm not a weirdo i just like trees" he blew a raspberry at her. "Weirdo~" she replied. "You're the weirdo" he rolled her eyes. "Wanna push me on the swings?" she asked him.

"I want to push you off the swings" he laughed at his own joke. She blankly stared at him. "I'm joking. Hey where are the people you were waiting for? did they forget about you?" he asked.

Slowly tears welded in her eyes. "Oh shit don't cry. I'm sorry i'm sure they are coming". "Watch your language". He went to hug her "Seriously don't cry dude i was kidding".

His arms awkwardly wrapped around her frame. "My siblings, they never do anything with me. same with my parents". "And your friends?" he pulled away. She sat down on the swing "i don't have any".

"You mean to tell me you don't have no friends at school? i thought rich kids were nice" he sat on the swing beside her. "Nice isn't what i'd call us" she snorted.

"I have an older brother. He doesn't play with me either" the boy shrugged. "Is he a weirdo like you?" she asked. He kicked her swing lightly "i'm not a weirdo!". "That's what weirdos say" she said.

"you're the freak wearing a sweater in summer" he pointed out. "Says the one who climbed in a tree for fun". "It's fun. Watch" he stood and grabbed her hand dragging her alone.

He dragged her up to the tree "do you know how to climb?" he asked. "Uhhhh" she examined the tree. "girls" he scoffed before cupping his hands. "Put your foot in my hands and i'll throw you up".

She looked at him weirdly. "It's not a big tree come on" he scoffed. She did as told bracing her hands on the tree and attempting to pull up. She felt him slowly lift her up. "Now put your foot on my shoulder and try to get up".

She sighed but did what he told her to. her hand barely touched the nook he was sitting in. She came crashing down suddenly on top of him. The two groaned as they hit the floor.

"You're a terrible climber" he said. "I've never climbed before. You're a terrible step stool" she shot back. He began laughing cuing her to join in. "I like you sweater girl" he smiled at her. "You're okay too Tree boy" she smiled back at him.
