Dear Mom.

I have some news.

I can talk now Mom, and he hasn't hurt me. I never thought I would say that again.

Rose and I are going 'speech training' and the kid is freaking relentless. I'm still slurring a bit, but my lisp is almost gone which is good.

We haven't told Colin or Scarlett yet because honestly I'm not sure how to. Also, I think I'm a bit scared still. Talking to Rose is easier because she won't point out any mistakes I make. I'm not saying that Scarlett and Colin does that but I won't know how to react if they do.

Scarlett is coming home today. She's been gone for two weeks and I've missed her so much. It's so weird, missing someone that much. Like, I miss you and all that but somehow she fills that hole. It's like she's a perfect fit for the piece that I lost when you left. She's the missing piece to my jigsaw puzzle. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy but I think she feels kind of the same way. We've had FaceTime sleepovers every day since I texted her about my nightmare and she tells me stories and how much she misses me. Oh and she told me she loves me. I don't think anyone has ever loved me before. And the weirdest thing is that I think I love her back. I think I love every one in this family.

It's currently 6 am and I can't go back to sleep because I have something nagging at me. This thought has been in the back of my head for over a week and I can't seem to make it disappear.

Rose mentioned that Scarlett and Colin talked about me weeks before I got placed here. I know she might be wrong but it feels weird.

I'm gonna go down to Scarlett's study before everyone wakes up. Rose and Cosmo are staying home today so they are all sleeping in which means that it's safe for me to go downstairs.

Sage slammed her diary shut and snuck downstairs. She had developed a knack for sneaking around the house thanks to him and now she was putting it to the test.

Down the stairs, past the kitchen, through the living room until finally she arrived outside of Scarlett study. The door was closed which somehow made the guilt ten times worse.

She shouldn't be here.

But the girl was determined as she pushed down the handle and quietly swung the door open. The office inside was small but cozy. It only held a desk, a chair and two bookcases. One wall was painted in a light blue color whilst the other ones were a simple white. As she stepped inside, her eyes immediately fell on the bundle of files and papers on the desk next to a computer screen. Sage crossed the room in three swift steps. Her fingers found the edges of the files as she started to look through them. She stopped when she found a folder with her name on. The blue plastic surrounded a bundle of papers all dating back to September of 2023.

But that was a year before she moved in with them.

Sage quickly swept the papers up into her arms to bring them upstairs so that she could read through them alone.
