One week later."Bye Mom! Bye Sage!" Sage's little sister called as she walked out the front door.
Sage waved as Scarlett gave Colin a last kiss before him, Cosmo and Rose left the house for a little road trip to Colin's family.
Colin had suggested the trip so that Scarlett and Sage could have some alone time which Scarlett happily agreed to. She was worried as the girl had shut herself off after Melanie's visit. She hadn't said anything else, not even to Rose no matter how hard they tried. She didn't really eat and she mostly stayed in her room. So yeah, she wasn't exactly doing so good.
One thing the woman had done though, was to reach out to her siblings to break the news about her eldest. She did it over the phone, outside whilst on a walk. Safe to say they were shocked to learn about a niece they never thought existed. But surprisingly, they took it as well as could be expected and decided that they would meet Sage whenever she was ready.

Four days later.
"Sage, dinner!" Scarlett called, at the bottom of the stairs.
Her plan for this evening was different, in hopes of getting her daughter to come out of her shell a bit more.
Moments later, a sleepy looking Sage appeared at the kitchen table. She was dressed in her blue pyjama set and her blonde hair was ruffled from sleep. Scarlett chuckled softly at her state because it was only seven pm.
"Morning, sleeping beauty." She teased as Sage sat down at the table.
Sage gave her a smile before digging into her pasta as Scarlett sat down across from her.
The woman cleared her throat, her heart pounding nervously in her rib cage.
"Hey listen," she started, a hand flying to the back of her head to itch an imaginary itch, "I thought that maybe we could do a movie night tonight after dinner."
Sage looked up from her plate, their green eyes meeting as Scarlett continued.
"However, if you're too tired we can do it another night."
A silence fell between them as Sage thought for a moment. Then she nodded before rubbing her eyes.
"So, you want to do a movie night?"
The girl nodded again and received a smile from Scarlett in response.
"So, do you have my movie you'd like to see?" Scarlett queried, crossing one leg over the other and leaning back in her chair.
—
Scarlett let Sage's bedroom door swing open a tad to check if her daughter was asleep still. You see, Scarlett had carried up a sleeping Sage to her room with the hopes of her not waking up. To her relief, the girl was sound asleep in her bed, her stuffed, giraffe that Melanie had gotten her a few days prior, tucked under one arm. She looked so peaceful and that wasn't something she did particularly often.
She couldn't resist, walking up to the girl to stroke the flyaway strand of hair that lay on her forehead. On her way to the bed, her eyes fell on her desk. A book was lying open with a pen next to it. Scarlett walked closer and her eyes fell on the text.
