Bricks pov:

I wrap my arm around Stephanie as she giggles away to her friends. I hadn't planned on coming to Buttercup and Butchs Beach Party, but Butch had important news.

That he conveniently didn't tell me but show. It was nice that he was happy with Buttercup, but it honestly wasn't something I needed at the moment.

I look over to Blossom lying down reading her book. She had been subtly looking at me since I'd arrived but not said anything.

I was hoping she would talk to me.  I glance at her. Although she was wearing a mesh dress, I could see everything under that it was almost inviting but hateful all at the same time.

Stephanie shuffles in my lap. She was wearing a very loose bikini set that should have turned me on since my rut, but it did nothing for me.

She stands up, going with her friends somewhere, leaving me. I seriously regret coming.

It was too hot, and I was tired of drinking the same thing again and again.

I stand up, going inside. I need to distract myself, or else I'm just going to talk to Blossom.

I get to a vending machine as Boomer walks over to me. "Hey."

Boomer was the main reason why I ended up coming and telling me about Stephanie wanting to hang out with me again. The thing is, Blossom was already starting and a distraction.

"If you're here to bug me about Stephanie, she's with her friends getting fake ice cream to stalk her friends, ex."

I slip my coins in as Boomer sighs.

"What is up with you, man? Stephanie said you where all over her a couple weeks ago it's your trying "

"I don't know, I just need space."

From everyone, but Blossom.

I take a sip of my drink and walk away with Boomer. "She likes you, dude, and honestly, you're taking too long to make your move."

Boomer stands in my way as some ladies pass us stopping me. He was right, normally I would fuck or date the next girl that showed interest but I want the one who didn't.

Thing was I didn't want to love anyone else but Blossom.

"I just have things on my mind and want to take things slow."

Boomer seems surprised by my answer and leaves me be. "Just don't let this take too long on your loving journey." Boomer chuckles and taps my shoulder.

He walks away towards Butch and Buttercup practically groping themselves in the corner.

I wasn't surprised by the relationship, but it's disgusting me all the same.

I get to the beach towel by Stephanie as she talks to her friend about something. She gives me a short wave and turns back to her friend, I look at Blossom, who was now listening in on the conversation.

I knew that face, some drama had started between Stephanie's friend and her ex.  I didn't know the plot line but the dude had somewhat fucked up.

I sigh, looking between Stephanie and Blossom. I was definitely better off going home, neither wanted to speak to me, and my social battery had depleted so much that Stephanie's presence wasn't going to help.

I down my drink and walk over to Stephanie.

"Hey honey." Stephanie puts a hand on my chest cutting off her friend. She gives me a small kiss on the cheek.

"I'm gonna leave."

It was better to be blunt than lead her on when my feelings just aren't in it.

I takema step back and glance at Blossom, she had gone back to reading.  Stephanie glances towards Blossom, who turns over to her front.

Her dress slips down to her waist as she lies on her back, still reading her book. I suck in my breath and turn my attention back to Stephanie.

"Okay, but call me when you get home." She signals her hand to a phone call.

I leave her heading straight for my car.

I'm beginning to understand why people say love is lovely yet painful.

I grab my things from my backseat, changing into a top. I shoot Boomer and Butch a quick text to say I'm leaving.

I could go home. Miranda was in Paris hosting a fashion event with the professor, so I wouldn't be bothered.

I quickly head home and shower.
