After Niko moved, Max made sure to stay connected, but they were lonely, so with no other interesting choice, they made their way to Corvus, after they settled their fight with him and talked about why it occurred, they found themselves enjoying his company.
"Hey Corvus!" Max waved to the child walking down the path, he flinched, and his hands went to his ears.
"Max?" Corvus asked when the child was in front of them. "What are you doing?"
"Taking you too school obviously." Max linked arms with the boy and dragged him along the path.
"I know where school is?" Corvus said, he had walked there ever since he got here, but all Max said was.
"Nope." Max smiled proudly.
"What do you mean no?" Corvus huffed a laugh.
"I mean no, do you wanna hear it in Spanish?" Max leaned close to the boy; the elven year old towered the eight-year-old by a long shot, Max was quite tall even for their age, they had to lean over to whisper into his ear as if they were revealing a secret. "No." Their breath travelled down his neck.
"You know Spanish?" Corvus asked.
"Just a bit." Max answered and the two continued to walk, it was a little while before they spoke again.
"Aren't we not supposed to be around each other?" Corvus asked, steadying his pacing so it matched Max's.
"Yeah but." Max looked around. "Who's gonna tell?" The laughed and sped off, prompting Corvus to run after them.
The falcon in the sky frowned the best a bird could before it dived down just a bit to increase its speed to follow the two children, or more specifically just one.

Max and Corvus continued to hang out and bond, of course Max kept sending letters to Niko, but they learned more into Corvus as their best friend.
Max and Corvus teamed up when they were tasked with building a tower in class which was meant to stand on its own.
Max and Corvus were paired together when they were tasked at designing a poster for a car brand,
Max and Corvus swapped answers when the teacher said that another child had to check and tick their work with the answers on the board.
Max and Corvus traded and swapped little things they had for lunch, usually something that smelled nice or was textured in a sharp or ruff way, Corvus mostly had meat in his meals, which was a big change from Max's, seeing as they packed their own meals and they consisted of over cooked and burnt food, dry food and foods that had weird aromas flowing off them.
Of course it wasn't going to last for long, others were bound to find out, whether it was the teachers who commented on them getting along so well, the children who said it was weird they were friends seeing the second day they met they got into a fight.
Or your care givers weird bird pet.
Max tightened the laces on their shoes and hopped up, turning to the opposite of the path to the school, heading to pick Corvus.
Max hummed when the falcon made a noise, demanding their attention. "Yes Apollo?"
The bird gave them a disappointed look and logically moved their wings outwards.
"Look man it's my life, you tell Father Yamato, it's quite alright, I go against him anyway if I can help it." Max smiled before opening the door and walking out if the building.
When Max returned home that day they got quite a mouthful from Father Yamato, the bird on his shoulder didn't look at them smugly but he made the expression his owner refused to show when speaking about concern.
"Why do I gotta stay away from him, he's my new best friend." Max groaned.
"I do not need to explain myself." Father Yamato said. "You will simply discover it soon if you keep hanging out with him."

Months had passed from that original warning at yet Max still hung out with Corvus.
"What are you doing today?" Corvus asked as he hung his bag on a hook which was officially his, he and Max decorated it with purple circles and wolf and dog stickers.
"Ugh, family time." Max made a show of sticking their tongue out.
"You really dislike family time." Corvus noted.
"Not all the time, but recently all of our discussions are based around you and "How you're a bad influence." Max waved their hands around for good measure and Corvus laughed.
"What about you, what are you doing?" Max asked.
"I'm renting a movie." He said proudly.
"Lucky, we have a Tv, but I have a designated time frame on it." Max groaned.
"Damn that's bad." Corvus snickered.
"Hey... are you laughing at me?!" Max whipped their head around and said exaggeratedly.
"No, No!" Corvus tried to defend himself, his eyes watering with happiness.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Max had their nose deep in a book on the history of Salem, which if you asked Corvus, they should've been reading the history of how the world came to be.
"So yeah, I can't come to the water today." Corvus said quietly and Max immediately shot up.
"What why?!" Max cried.
"I have my own family time." Corvus said and as soon as he said that Max leaned back in their chair, their head hung around the edge of it.
"Why does everyone have damn family time in this damn town, it's ruining everything." Max groaned and Corvus laughed.
"I mean I'm happy about mine, they only happen once a month and yours happens every week." Corvus said proudly.
"You don't have to remind me." Max said slowly.
In truth no one else in the town had specific family time arranged and soon the two children soon found out why.
