Days had passed since they saved the fish and almost by fate, the night before Niko's departure was a full moon, one last chance to gather everyone, in the form they were blessed with by the many Gods.
Max wore a white singlet, black binder, trench coat around their waist and blue shorts with their classic boots and satchel, they wanted to show the others their magic in a safe environment, but they just gaped at how Max had tattoos.
They barely noticed that Max had a robotic arm, then they did, and they were excited.
Seems as though they weren't shown to the magical word, which is weird because usually, werewolves and magic users despised each other, Max didn't dwell on it, they were glad to have some friends like them.
Freaks.
The odd.
The supernatural.
The creatures in the dark.
William poked Max's arm before grabbing it to inspect the rune tattoos, his fingers dimpled Max's skin and he push and shuffled until he realised, he had directly poked Max's bone.
"Wicked." William whispered; the sun was falling along the horizon, it was splendid, the sky was orange and red with lines of pink and blue, clouds were outline with yellow orange, but their inside were black and dark grey, looking like a solar eclipse.
"It's so hot." Max complained, pinching their singlet, and using it to fan their body, it wasn't very effective.
"That's summer for you." William shrugged before he continued to poke and prod Max's arm, stopping Max from fanning themselves and inspecting their robotic arm.
"Moon." Mr Constellation said. "Everyone gather 'round."
The werewolves followed, Niko stole William's spot beside Max, watching the werewolves from afar.
"What are they doing?" Max asked, scrunching their face, William and Carlos started taking off their clothes until they were left in their boxers.
"They can't shift with their clothes on their body." Niko answered.
Max paused thinking for a moment.
"That must've been tough in the foster system." They hummed. "Moving around, place to place, having to make excuses as to why clothes went missing every full moon."
"Yeah, I used my pocket money to by clothing for them when I could." Niko hummed, pushing his thighs to his chest, and resting his chin on his knees. "I wish I could've done more for them."
"Hey." Max cooed; they rested a hand over the shapeshifter's shoulders. "You did the best you could, and in the end." Max looked up at the half-shifted werewolves, with snapping bones and squelching flesh. "You've given them the best thing ever. A pack."
Max grabbed Niko by his chin and turned the boy to them. "You are awesome." Niko smiled. "Albeit not the best looking." Max shrugged and Niko frowned. "Or the tallest."
"That's enough." Niko shook himself out of Max's grasp and slumped against the tree, Max snorted and closed their eyes to heave over and laugh.
A wet snout pressed against Max's head, and they looked up, Corvus.
"Hello there." Max smiled patting the wolf's head, Niko hummed and shuffled away as Corvus moved closer to Max, paws between their legs and snout sniffing at Max's face. "You gonna change?" They asked the shapeshifter.
"Sure." Niko huffed. "What as?"
Max stared at him disappointedly. "Really? I-is that-" They huffed. "Wolf."
