A month after Max had shown their robotic arm to Corvus they had it taken off, to cover the shape of the metal they started to wear gloves, white elbow length ones, Mr Constellation suggested sensible black ones like his and his wife's, but Max said that they didn't want a colour that sucks in the light of the sun and boil them alive.
They were in a mall the next town over, Corvus pressed his body against Max's so he could help in hiding any part of the metallic arm which stuck out from under the cover of Max's cast.
Max had completely changed their attire and wardrobe as well, they gave up on simple striped long sleeve clothing and changed to a 'rustier' appearance in Mr Constellation's eyes, Corvus thought it was perfect and that Max looked good in anything they wore.
Max wore a brown trench coat which was far too big for them, white button up, long sleeve shirt, white gloves, a pale-yellow bandana hung around their long neck, denim blue shorts which did their best to hide scraped knees, secured around their waist by a black belt, knee length socks with two grey lines, black and white laced boots and their tan-coloured satchel was across their shoulder.
The second Max, Corvus and Mr. Constellation were out of eye range from the humans, Corvus threw himself on top of Max and crawled all over them, they needed to be drenched in his scent.
Max laughed, as Corvus finally settled against their back, legs tied around their waist, arms around their neck and with their head pressed to their back, Mr. Constellation scrunched his face in disgust and confusion, but he didn't go against it.
A week after Max had taken their cast off, they requested the idea of going camping, Father Yamato was quick to say no, Miss Sissy Iris stayed neutral and the Constellations were conflicted, Corvus, of course, was quick to say yes and the next day the two of them headed into town to shop for camping gear.
"I have 50 bucks." Max clicked as they searched in their B-fold reddish brown wallet.
"50!" Corvus exclaimed. "How?"
"A simple enchantment." Max smiled cheekily but it didn't reach their eyes.
Corvus gasped and leaned closer to whisper. "Max, you used spells, surely that's illegal, e-even in the spellcasting world."
"Believe it or not, it isn't illegal, just advised against doing it in large quantities, plus-" Max wet their lips and paused.
"Plus, what?" Corvus questioned, inhaling blue. "Max?"
"I'm not ever going to do it again." Max promised with a shrug.
"Why." Corvus questioned, it seemed like a good way to live, copy, and spawn money and Max would never have to work and experience accidents ever again.
"Because it felt wrong." Max sighed. "There was something there, tugging on my magic when I was spellcasting it, it felt wrong like I was cheating."
Blue.
Max smelled so, so blue and pale green.
Fear, Max was scared.
Corvus was quick to tug on Max's arm and pull them down to eye level with him. "Don't you ever feel that!" He growled. "What you did was ok, it wasn't illegal, and you haven't told anyone else, what you did was simply practicing magic. It. Was. alright."
Max chuckled nervously and tried to pull away. "Thanks kid." They spoke. "Mind letting me go now?"
Corvus blinked and loosened his grip of Max. "Uh-yeah."
He held Max's hand as they continued on down the street.
