( Evelyn Pov )

I grabbed my stuff and headed outside my room to see Dylan waiting for me.

"Come on, Evelyn," Dylan said.

"Okay," I sighed as we got in the car and drove off. We arrived at school and headed into the gym.

"Hey guys," I greeted Kaya and James.

"Hey," James replied.

"Hi, did you guys forget anything?" Kaya asked.

"Yeah," I said.

"Alright." As we talked, our teachers announced something.

"Alright students, find a bus partner."

"Guys, sorry, I'm going with my boyfriend," James said as he walked towards his boyfriend.

"Kaya, wanna be my partner?" I asked.

"Sorry Evelyn, Dylan already asked me," Kaya said, tapping my shoulder.

"How about me? Are you going to choose Dylan over me?" I asked sarcastically.

"Yes," Kaya laughed as I rolled my eyes. "Besides, you can sit beside Thomas." Kaya wiggled her eyebrows.

"Shut up. Now go with your 'new' partner," I said.

"Alright, see you!" Kaya said. I decided to go with Ella, my friend in math class.

"Ella!" I shouted. "Wanna be my bus partner?" I asked.

"Sorry, no, Bethany already asked me," Ella said.

"It's okay, see you!" I said. Who should be my partner? I thought. Oh, I should be with Ki Hong or Will!

"Ki Hong!" I shouted.

"Hey, Evelyn!" Ki Hong greeted.

"Wanna be my partner?" I asked.

"Sorry, no, I'm with Will," Ki Hong said. "You can be with Thomas."

"Come on, man!" I sighed.

"Why not, Evelyn? Do you like him?" Ki Hong asked.

"No!"

"Then what's the problem?"

"I just—"

"Blah blah blah, come on, Evelyn!" Ki Hong begged.

"Alright," I sighed, defeated.

"Yes! THOMAS, WHERE ARE YOU?" Ki Hong shouted.

"Yes?" Thomas said, walking towards us.

"Evelyn wants to be your bus partner," Ki Hong exclaimed.

"Alright," Thomas said.

"Okay guys, I'm going to find Will. See you on the bus!" Ki Hong said as he ran to Will.

"So, did Ki Hong force you?" Thomas whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine.

"Uhh, no no," I shook my head.

"Alright."

"Okay, if you've found a partner, you can get on the bus," our teacher yelled.

"Okay," I said, grabbing my luggage.

"Why did you want to be my bus partner?" Thomas asked.

"Oh, Kaya is with Dylan, and James is with his boyfriend," I said.

"So I'm your third choice?" Thomas chuckled.

"Maybe," I said sarcastically.

"Alright then, Ms. O'Brien," Thomas grinned, making me laugh. As Thomas and I got on the bus, it was so full. I was about to put my luggage in the compartment, but it was too heavy. I was too shy to ask Thomas.
